MARTIN COUNTY, KY (WSAZ)-A late night drive leaves one man dead after he lost control of his motorcycle. Sheriff's deputies tell wsaz.com that Leonard Timnms was riding his motorcycle on Coldwater Road just before midnight. Timms hit some debris on the road and wrecked.
Investigators say Timms was thrown from his motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet.

Some people just don't get it ! He was not wearing a helmet yes we all know that is bad but some people talk alot and that can be bad too. That was his choice, not like he wanted to die so back off and let the family come on here and read something good for a change not someone talking off at the mouth. Remember, we all have to answer to what we do and say in life don't make your self look stupid just to get noticed, someday it might just happen to someone you love. May god be with his family.

When reporting a motorcycle accident, is it really necessary to say the person wasn't wearing a helmet? Would it matter if he was? My sympathies to the family of the fallen rider.

While I firmly believe helmets should be required, it's still no less a tragedy for his family. Debris in the road is not just a danger for motorcycles, it's a common cause of bicycle accidents as well. The injuries are usually less severe on a bike because of the slower speed, but I've been very banged up before. Be careful folks. My sympathies to the family.

For the people who have the rude comments of whether or not he should of been wearing a helmet, that was not your decision, that was Leonard's. and for the comments, I think at this time, they are uncalled for, and rude. Havent you ever had a loss? I think that you need to apoligize to this family, this is not the time, they have lost someone very dear to them, and do not need your stupidity thoughts! To the family: Almetta & Ryan, I am sorry for your loss, and am praying that this gets easier as time goes on, I feel so bad for Ryan, he is a great kid. and for Almetta.... sending you lots of love, and prayers!

our thoughts go out to his family.....people died in all kinds of vehicle accidents on a daily basis so don't analyze it. more bikes are on the road for various reasons. article said he hit debris in the road, that is a common thing in this area. people mow their lawn and throw the grass into the road, have gravel driveways and let the gravel out into the roadway, blow leaves in the fall into the road. roads in the tri state area can be very dangerous

No other feeling in the world is like on a motorcycle and I love to ride my HD and I tell my wife if I do get killed out their riding, I died happy doing something that I love so much sinse 67'.

when a tragedy happens people have a tendancy to analize and be opinionated and judgmental get over that and remember this is someones loved one they have just lost and are grieving lets remember them in our prayers

TO CHARLIE: The statistics prove overwhelmingly that seatbelts SAVE lives as well as helmets. As with anything you can point to a person who died due to having a seat belt oin. trapped, drowning etc... but that is few and far between. Check out the national crash statistics on the federal web site. The prrof is in the pudding as they say.

If you've ever been on a motorcycle you would probably know, if you wreck on one its really not gonna matter if you have a helmet on. It should be to each their own. If you elect not to wear a helmet then so be it. Your not hurting anyone else whether you are or not wearing a helmet.

I was at my in-laws when this happened and they live right of Coldwater on a street named Lafferty Lane. The accident was righ tin front of our home.

Our prayers are with his family. There have been several motorcycle accidents this summer with fatality's in which the riders were wearing helmets so I'm not so sure that is still a valid issue. Just as with seat belts.

Here it is again "not wearing a helmet" . When will the States realize it's safer WITH a helmet? They force us to wear a seatbelt and children must wear helmets when bicycling and motorized bike riders need helmets. They( the states ) FORCE us to wear our seatbelts in the interest of safety. It's crazy they allow the double standard. Change the law NOW.

Thats horrible. Motorcycle accidents are getting to be a common thing in the Tri State. We never know when something horrible like this is going to happen.. My prayers are with this family..
