CANNONSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- After more than two years of construction, the Cannonsburg-Ashland I-64 interchange will officially re-open Thursday.

A completion ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Appalachian Fuels, which overlooks the site.

Work on the $37 million project began in May 2006. The project changed the configuration of the interchange and included new entrance and exit ramps. The project was completed more than a month early.

During the ceremony, state officials say the public will be able to “sign” a special road sign commemorating the project.

In case of rain, the ceremony will be held at Boyd County High School.
