ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The weather has been warm for January, making for a nice night for an art-walk.

The First Friday Art Walk was held in downtown Ashland on Winchester Avenue at the Pendleton Art Center. Guitarist Eric Smith played while folks took in work by 40 artists.

January's artist of the month is William Wallace, a photographer and impressionist painter in Studio 132.

I think the artwalks are great. It's such a great way to bring the community together and help to gain an appreciation for the arts. We need more of this in our area.

As I posted the other night after returning from viewing the BEAUTIFUL City of Ashland Park Lights as well as seeing their downtown itself lit up so prettily for Christmas, THEY know how to run a City! It was SO nice driving through their downtown where people were actually out milling around shopping in actual downtown stores & not dodging bullets or thugs as in Huntington! It reminded me of how HUNTINGTON USED to be back when I first moved here in late 70's/early 80's - safe, beautiful AND stores downtown worth shopping in! Plus Ashland makes their City even more beautiful & inviting during the holidays but it ALWAYS is. Plus THEIR mall is right there with downtown stores like HUNTINGTON'S was SUPPOSED to be. Now Ashland had the "Art Walk"! Really wonderful event! I'm ready to move to Ashland because I'm sick of how my once beloved beautiful, safe city of Huntington has become! Ashland folks be PROUD & THANKFUL for your City Mgr, your leaders & your City!
