ATHENS, Ohio (WSAZ)-- Athens County Job and Family Services announced today cuts of 850-thousand dollars for eight agencies that provide services in the county.

Director Jack Frech blames the cuts on reduced funding from the state..

Frech says he is not happy about it. "The state has chosen to place their funding on other priorities with seemingly little regard for the growing crisis that our families and local agencies are facing."

The biggest loser is the Kids on Campus program where the cut is 335-thousand dollars.

Athens County Children's Services also is a big loser -- 260-thousand.

Others on the list -- the Appalachian Peoples Action Coalition, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, and United Seniors of Athens.
