IRONTON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A Pedro, Ohio, man is under arrest on felony drug charges.

The Lawrence County, Ohio, Sheriff says investigators arrested 42- year-old Steve Akers on Wednesday.

The sheriff says that during the raid on Akers' residence, officers found: 23 weapons, some loaded; 2-pounds of marijuana valued at $2,000; 50 Oxycontin tablets; various other drugs and cash from drug sales.

Officers went to Akers' residence following a recent grand jury indictment. The sheriff say his department had “received complaints regarding suspected drug trafficking at this residence.”

TO PEDRO93(J.A). YOU NEED TO SHUT UP AND QUIT DEFENDING SOMEONE WHO SELLS DRUGS.. JUST BECAUSE HE DIDN'T SELL TO CHILDREN DOESN'T MEAN HIS DRUGS DIDN'T MAKE IT TO CHILDREN. SOMEONE HE SOLD TO COULD VERY WELL HAVE SOLD TO A CHILD. SELLING DRUGS IS WRONG NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE.

inorder fore our town to move forward the drug and many other problms here need to be addressed.i agree if some one dont know this man they shouldnt judge.they are probily guilty of this themself.i know a women that has sent her children to the doctor sense they could take narcotics.to sell them her day is coming but she is also a snicth fore the police department does that make her any better then this man every one is talking about it all comes down to who you know in good ole little chicago.you hear on tv how it comes from all the states into our county its not just poor pedro its all of america and its bad....drugs effects all age groups/alocohal..until the prolme is adressed it wont stop..thanks fore listening...

it seems like to me that lilly is making excuses for akers but their is no excuses for him. he is a drug dealer that will sell to anyone even children its all about that dirty dollar they need to grow up. and get a real job yea yea their is know jobs in ironton well cross the bridge.

thing's like this wouldnt happen if they didnt take all the good paying job around here and send them to other states, I CAN NAME FIVE THAT WAS SENT OUT OF STATE , HE IS A HARD WORKER ,HE RAISED 3STEP SONS ,YOU ARE SO QUICK TO JUDGE ,GET 4 OR 5 JOBS ,SO EASY SAID ,MOST OF YOU DONT EVEN HAVE ONE , what about the doctors that give these drugs to people that dont need them or they wouldnt be in resale,but thats all right because they are paying taxes,the government pays for the doctor visit ,doc sends it to the street .THE BOTTON LINE IS SOMEONE MADE A TAX FREE DOLLAR AND THE MIDDLE MAN GOT SCREWED AGAIN ,,

I live in Pedro and it sickens me that people are making excuses for what Akers is accused of doing. Selling drugs is in no way a means of supporting a family or life. Oxycontin's have the ability to kill people. Lilly, I don't know him or if he did this, but if he did what he's accused of then I stand by my belief that a pusher is a criminal. I'm not jealous of his money or anything else. I do not live beyond my means and I'm comfortable. Get a clue. Go work at McD's if you need to make money. Ridiculous!

I don't sell drugs. I am a mother to 3 kids who lost her job a few months ago, 3 months behind on my house payment, cutoff notices, etc., while trying to now live off student loans while going to grad school. If I can make it through life without polluting our society, I am sure anyone else can. He just took the weak way out and it cost him. I don't care if he is a good guy. Talk to any murderer and they can seem nice. Talk to any prostitute and they can seem nice. A criminal is a criminal. Most people on those pain pills end up on worse drugs. Most of the crime here is due to drugs. So, big deal if you like him. To justify his criminal actions just make me think you are someone buying off of him. To say he never bothered anyone is hypicritical while saying you don't agree with it. Why don't you agree with it? He may be a great guy, but what about the people he sells to that could go out and kill someone or have a wreck and kill someone leaving his house? Great guy.

I think if you don't know the guy anonymous then you shouldn't comment. I agree with lilly.. He never bothered anyone and i see her point where you have to do what you can to survive.. there is no decent jobs around here to be able to work and raise a family on anymore. I know selling drugs is wrong and I don't agree with it. Until you actually know a person u need not make judgement on them. He is a very nice guy.. and i have known him and his family for several years now and they would do anything for you if you asked.. so grow up and quit passing judgement. for all we know maybe you a drug dealer too..

Lilly, what do you mean "gotta do what it takes to survive"? There are alot of people out there surviving just fine without the help of selling drugs. If you give this excuse to drug dealers,then you have to give it to theives, as well. How do you think this guy is going to make money to survive? By pushing it onto other people. And, given that Pedro is out in the country, I doubt he has alot of clients, so I am sure he must find other ways to sell his drugs, which is quite scary given that he had guns as well. I know things are getting bad around here, but to justify dealing drugs as a means to survive is ridiculous. With the amount and types of drugs he had, he was probably so out of it he couldn't get up off the couch to go to work. No wonder he was always so quiet, he was always drugged up!
