PIKETON, Ohio (WSAZ) – The Ohio Highway Patrol says a grand jury has indicted 5 people in connection with a crash that killed a Lucasville man last November.

43-year-old Scott M. Jones died in that accident.

The Patrol says the June grand jury indicted the driver, 41-year-old Sheila Preston of Peebles, on second-degree felony charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, obstructing justice, and tampering with evidence.

Also indicted on a charge of obstructing justice were 22-year-old Nick Ison, 52-year-old Rita Ison, 20-year-old Joshua Taylor, and 40-year-old Jamie Burress, all of Peebles. Burress was also indicted on a charge of tampering with evidence.

The Highway Patrol says the fatal crash occurred when Preston failed to stop and struck an unoccupied construction vehicle on Wakefield Mound Road in Pike County. She and the rest of the passengers then exited the vehicle, leaving Jones at the scene, where he died from his injuries.

If convicted on all charges, Preston is facing up to 21 years in prison and up to a $21,000 fine.

The others each face one year in prison and a $2,500 fine if convicted .

No trial dates have been scheduled.

Scott was loved by many. He always put a smile on my face. I am his sister-in-law. He deserved so much more than what he was given in this accident. Why would anyone leave someone to die? I would like to see justice done in this situation, but there is not an eye for an eye justice out there. You can hide a body and the family find out by rumors and only spend 1 year?

Scott was a very good friend to me and my boys. Owl Creek doesn't seem the same without him. He didn't deserve to die that way. If they could have only gotten him medical attention instead of leaving him there he might still be with us today. They only thought of themselves and left. They deserve much more then they will receive. Because Scott didn't deserve this to happen to him.

Scott didn't deserve to die like this. These people should be locked away and throw away the key. Because of trash like this that killed Scott should have to suffer as he did. They took away a father, a son, a brother and a very good friend to all. He is very sadly missed. I hope what they did haunts them for the rest of their lives.

What a vehicle load of scum. Give them the maximum (which really isn't enough). Wouldn't you hate to have this bunch as neighbors or, heaven forbid, as relatives?
