LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Firefighters battled a house fire Monday evening along County Road 15 that sent a woman to a hospital, emergency workers said.

Crews on the scene said the injured person was Krista Pennick who lived in the house. Reports say she is in critical conditon at a Huntington Hospital

Pennick's infant daughter had been reported missing earlier, but later was reported to be safe with her grandparents. Pennick's husband also was feared missing initially, but is said to be safe in Texas.

The home was destroyed, according to firefighters. Investigators say the cause remains undetermined at this time. The State Fire Marshal's Office says they still need to speak to Pennick once her condition improves.

As many as five fire departments were at the scene.

just cause there are to fires in the same area does not mean their is someone setting the fires or it was a meth fire. The only thing that matters if every one is safe and no one died in the fire and if you are going to thank someone thank the firemen cause they but their lives on the line and stopping their lives with their family's or what every they are diong to came and help you every time you call to save you in your time of need and do this for free in this area and dont ask for nothing in return for it just maybe help with a fund raiser every now and them so that we can buy the Equipment needed to keep them safe and able to help you every time you call

I think its funny there is always two sides to every story I was told by more than one person that this man was the first one to the fire yes he was delivering oxygen next door but he did indeed try to get the women out of the house and made sure that someone had called 911. I think that there are many people who risk their lives everyday to help others but lets give credit to where credit is due. Lots of people are praying for this woman and her family and lots of people were there helping ems, fire dept. , her friends, and the stranger who didnt even know her but is a good person whom tried to help her and make sure help was called for and he would have never have caused more harm than good. everyone just needs to think of this lady and her family and not worry about hometown heros. unless you want to call all involved hometown hero since the lady was rescued and hopefully will make a quick recovery.

God bless all the Firemen and Women and the EMS workers that worked together to control the fire at the Penicks! We can not express how much we love each and everyone for coming to the rescue!

Yes there was another guy there delivering oxygen next doot to the fire. He drove past the house with her in there on fire and screaming, he got out, got in the back of his truck for the tanks of oxygen, walked across the road, knocked on the door and asked her does someone live in that house? She says yes and he says well it is on fire. When Sharon and Bob pull up from work they are both standing there doing nothing. Bob and Sharon starts knocking down the door and when they were trying to get her out past the door the guy runs over and starts pushing the door more, which was pushing her into the fire more. Bob had to push him put of the way to be able to get Krista out without her being in more danger! That guy was no help at all! All the Fire Depts that were there are organizing a benefit dinner and have a big fund raising event planned. They are taking donations and there will be donation jars at most of the local stores if you would like to make a donation to help the family.

I think Sharon Davis stated it best. Hometown hero would be appropriate for her and Bob, but to really make a difference let's all pitch in and help out this family in crisis. I'm sure most of us have something that would help them that is only taking up space in our homes or that we could definitely live without. Money is always welcomed in times like this. I feel for these people because it can happen to any of us. I say go for it with nominating Sharon Davis and Bob for hometown heroes. Maybe it would serve to further raise awareness, MONEY and all NEEDED items to this family. God Bless you all.

I was at this fire and I think all involved, ems, fire and the two men who pulled this woman from her burning house should be praised. I happen to know one of the two men who helped break in the door and and pull this lady from the her house and he has not asked for any recognition at all I do know his name is not Bob or Sharon so before anyone goes and tries to take full credit for saving a life or be nominated for hometown hero in my opinion there are several heros involved. I pray for Krista to have a speedy recovery that is the most important thing.

Billy, we are all so sorry for you and your families misfortune.. We are ALL here for you should you need us, please don't hesitate... You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers daily.. Goodluck with everything buddy..

I was a witness to this fire. I didn't see who pulled her out of the fire. I did however see three emergency service workers carrying her from just outside the burning home to a safe distance. I think that we should all be greatful for the Fire, and EMS that risk their lives daily to save those in need. They risked their lives to save this woman. Keep the family in your prayers, but also remember the Fire and EMS workers who do this day in and day out.

Krista was found three feet outside of the back door of the fully involved house fire, and EMS and fire had to move her another twenty feet so they could safely treat her.

To Debbie, The best way to make Sharon and Bob hometown heroes is to nominate them. See the links on this site. To Sharon and Bob, you both did a very brave thing by going into a burning house and you risked your lives in doing so. I cant imagine the fate of burning to death. Krista has a long, difficult and painful road ahead of her over the next few weeks. My prayers go out to everyone involved.

Sharon and her boyfriend Bob were the ones that pulled Krista out of that fire! If it were not for them she would be dead now. Nothing at all was mentioned in the news about that. They heard her in there screaming and before they got to her she had passed out against the door and they could not get the door open. They finally did get her out and pulled her to safety. I think Sharon and Bob should be elected the Hometown heroes!

Hello, my name is Sharon Davis I am a friend of Krista Penneck who was burned badly in the house fire on Monday August 25. She is married with one daughter. They have lost everything they had. The car they had burned up we came home from work at 6: 10 pm on Monday and her house was engulfed in flames. We could hear her screaming My boyfriend and I broke the kitchen door open and found her badly burned with black smoke everywhere she was trapped behind the kitchen door. We pulled her out of the house and now she is in critical condition at Cabell Hospital with 60% burns on her body. I am trying my best to raise funds for her and her family and help provide household items and clothing for the family. I am taking donations for the family my name is Sharon Davis and my home number is 740-894-0745

My prayers are with Krista and her entire family at this time. Losing possessions is hard, but in time most are replaceable. She is not. I'm glad that her daughter and husband were not home at the time. God Bless you and keep you.
