Sarah Palin needs to lay off of our Alaskian wildlife-MCSame is an arrogant idiot-Obama is going to be the next Pres-I will vote for him! If you research the issues-there's no other choice.

A friend and I sat in line since 1 o'clock yesterday to see Obama. Going there, I was a lil unsure on who I was going to vote for. We sat in line for hours, finally got inside and made it to the front. As I stood there listening to Mr. Obama, I shook my head over and over, saying "YES" "YES" "YES" finding myself LOVING everything he had said that night. In the end I stuck around to get a hand shake, and was BLOWN AWAY at how down to earth and nice he really was, and in the end I am very glad I stood for over 8hrs to see, listen, and shake Obama's hand. I have finally made my decision on who I will vote for, I am 25 years old and have NEVER voted before. But this year shall be different, and I am very confident on my choice. Thanks Obama for visiting our area. We really do need a change

Thank U so much for this telecast tonight. I am disabled and was not able to attend. Only thing, LOL was watching a woman put on her makeup and comb her hair and answering questions to someone? Your sound was low. Thank you again. :)

To JC: When has McCain ever talked about specifics? Did you watch the debate? How many times did he say "we will do everything that is needed, we will do a lot of things". That's just pandering to voters. He gave no specifics. He and Palin both refused to say they would prioritize any of their plans, much less cut anything in the wake of this economic mess. That is just not true. There is no way that they will be able to do everything they have promised. Obama and Biden both admitted that the issues would have to be prioritized and possibly things cut. That's just honesty, and I appreciate that. As far as this Ayers matter, the McCain campaign in grasping for anything to shed a negative light on Obama because they are LOSING!!! He sat on a board with him. It's not like they are taking vacations together! If you can't see the negative shift that the McCain campaign has taken, mostly b/c of Palin's inability to complete a sentence, then you have some major blinders on!

Read his own book. He was raised as a Muslim and associates with them. He supports terrorists and new documents show. He went to a church for over 20 years where hatred for the USA and any other race but BLACK was spewed. While he may say now he is not Muslim, he definitely holds to their philosophies. Lets see who the terrorists and the enemies want to have as POTUS... Obama. Why? Because he supports them. He says one thing, but the proof is there. So, I AM smarter than you considering I can look at the EVIDENCE and make a decision based on that, not the lies he speaks. Also, your beloved candidate SUPPORTS infanticide. He feels that if an abortion fails and the baby is born alive, the mother has the right to allow the baby to die. Why would I want the POTUS to start choosing who can live and who can die? The last few to do that... Saddam, Hitler, Mussolini... shall I go on? If Obama wins, FREE SPEECH will cease to exist. HE wants GOVT to run your life. No, I am smarter than that!

Did you know that Obama was the attorney responsible for SUING mortgage companies for not lending money to people who could NOT afford them? Why should a bank be FORCED to lend money to people they know will not pay, don't have the funds to pay, and a job to pay for the mortgage? Yet, he SUED them to FORCE them to do so. Now, thanks to Obama, companies are in trouble because people have mortgages they never should have gotten. Now, I am having to pay for someone else's home because they went and bought a home they could not afford. Gee, I would have loved to have bought a much bigger house, but I knew I couldn't afford it. Maybe I should have, then I would have gotten some free money, too. And you people want more of Obama and his forcing me to pay for things for someone who is too lazy to get off their butts and go to work and live within their means like the rest of us are doing? No thank you. I like capitalism, NOT SOCIALISM.

the stock market soared to an all time high, as did consumer confidence under the bush administration. consumer confidence peaked in 2006. notice the correlation between dems getting control of the congress and the economy going to hell in a hand basket.

Personally, I don't think either candidate is worthy of presidency; however, we must vote for someone. Otherwise, we won't have a right to complain about their bad deeds and spoken, broken promises that never ever materialize. Let's face it. Politics has always been nothing but smoke and mirrors, especially with the dead beat candidates. One is ready for his grave while the other needs to be seasoned a bit before jumping into something without truly knowing the consequences of his actions. America voted for these two "so-called" presidential candidates during the primary, so I guess you're ready. Yes, I know...what did Bush do? NOTHING. As I stated early, spoken, broken promises for American citizens. I think we all deserve better than that!!

Posted by: M.U. student on Oct 8, 2008 at 01:22 PM
Does anyone know how early you would have to be there? I have class part of the day, but want to go. I'm afraid crowds will be so large I would have to go really early.

It's no wonder the rest of the nation thinks people from West Virginia and Ohio are ignornant gun toting imbreds. Just one look at half of the comments posted on here calling him muslim proves it. If McCain, shudder, wins this election, I'm moving to another country that's hopefully smarter.

Posted by: JC on Oct 8, 2008 at 12:20 PM
I am sorry, but didn't Bush talk a mean game, but lacked specific explanations of how to accomplish the goals he wanted. Seems to me that we should have learned from that, so why would I vote for Obama. And, it is not the people not voting for Obama making this a racial issue, it is the people voting for him that are making it a racial issue. Black or white, I am going to vote for you if you help me feed my kids and afford my utilities. Everyone says Obama's "plan will work", but not one person has argued what his plan is and how it will benefit us instead of McCain's plan. There are no specifics, no outline, just the anticipated result. How can you think he will get the job done when he doesn't know HOW? I want specifics and so far, McCain has given those. I don't rate McCain based on the Bush, that would be like rating Obama based on what any black person has done wrong in the past, and that is the prejudice you are speaking against, right?

Posted by: Old Professional on Oct 8, 2008 at 12:17 PM
Well,well..I'm an idiot because I read and listen, shame on me! Fact: I haven't decided which candidate will receive my vote because I'm still listening and reading. I believe voters should not "run" with one sentence...READ...and be prudent in your decision. If this belief qualifies me as an idiot, so be it!

Posted by: CJ on Oct 8, 2008 at 10:16 AM
After reading all these disgusting comments about Obama, I just cannot let it go by. This area is my home, but it saddens me to see what narrow-minded, asinine, prejudicial comments some of you have. Some of you open your mouths just to hear your brains rattle! You associate the name Hussein with Islamic radicals. With this mentality, what do you think of the name "Eve." Gee, here's a woman that defiantly disobeyed God, and we have millions of women named Eve. It is a name for heaven's sake! You make comments about having a Caddy and chicken which only emphasizes the degree of racism that exists within you. If you were as American or Christian as what you would have us all believe, you would support all people who work to make a living, applaud their successes, and put color back in the crayon box where it belongs. Supporting either candidate is appropriate, but try to use some dignity, character, and ability to research your statements before you jump on the trash talk wagon.

Posted by: A on Oct 8, 2008 at 09:45 AM
Anyonymous, I agree. It's very sad how a lot of people believe everything they hear. I was one. My husband would hear things from people at work, assume they're true and come home and tell me and then I would assume they're true. And you know what happens when you assume. I finally got down and started investigating all these "rumors" going around about Obama, because slowly my husband was stearing me toward McCain. Come to find out all the things he was saying have since been proven to be lies. I then went on CNN's website where they have every issue, you click on the issue and you see where each candidate stands and how they've voted in the past. Which confirms what I decided last night, I agree much more with Obama than McCain. So I encourage everyone, before you start running around telling your friend what your neighbor's friend's cousin's boyfriend told your husband's sister's cousin, research and see where you stand, not where others say you should stand

Posted by: Doug on Oct 8, 2008 at 09:11 AM
When the bad and ignorant out number what this country was founded on and stood for, it's gone! McCain is our only hope for now. He has proved he will fight for America under the worst of conditions. What would Obama do under these same conditions? His little but would sing like a canary and shake like yellow dog. Is this the symbol of our country now? ! Obama will run and hide behind the big backers he is being controlled by.

This comment is directed at Lori's misguided statements about William Ayers, she doesn't have her facts straight. Ayers was indeed prosecuted for terrorism, and was basically sprung on a technicality due to an illegal FBI wiretap of his phone. He has admitted his guilt repeatedly, and gloats about it every chance he gets. This is the guy who says that he not only doesn't regret bombing the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol as well as police stations and recruiting centers, but states that he only wishes he had planted MORE bombs. He describes himself as a "small C Communist" in his own memoirs. And Obama has been associated with him for over 20 years with full knowledge of his past and far more closely than he wants the public to believe. Obama got his start in Chicago politics in Ayers' living room. And this is only ONE issue that bears looking into when considering Obama's beliefs and fitness to be our next President. People keep ignoring the facts about this man. Dangerous delusion.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 8, 2008 at 01:29 AM
After reading through these comments it is very scary that people do not do research . They take one thing and run with it. You should have to pass a stupid test to before you can vote. This is not meant fot all , but some just don't make since on what they are trying to say

Tell me exactly what the republicans have done to our economy and deficit over the last 8 years? Run it into the ground, that's it. How can you say that Obama's plan will not work? If it's different than what we've been seeing, how can that be a bad thing? Thankfully the country sees that McCain/Palin are not the real thing and have no plan other than to bash Obama b/c of the color of his skin. Oh, wait, that's just Palin. McCain can't do his own dirty work. The polls show that Obama is taking commanding leads in undecided states, as well as some Red states! Obama/Biden 08!!!!!!

Why isn't Nadar in these debates, does anyone know? Oh, and by the way to Joe, unfortunately, America has no culture or tradition to be gotten rid of. We are the melting pot and because of that, there is nothing you can identify America with such as religion, architecture, nothing that is specific to America. These changes you speak of that are being forced too fast, I agree, but it is because of everyone's own desire of individuality and a some "cause" they are working on that steps on the toes of others. These people working for a cause of are so aggressive that they don't realize that by trying to get one noticed, they quash all the others in the process.

Posted by: Too much Obama drama on Oct 7, 2008 at 07:00 PM
There have been many rumors spread about Obama but none have been proven true. If you would like 4, possibly 8 more years of a republican run country, then go right ahead and vote for McCain. Im sure he will lead our country down the drain just like Bush. Not to mention should he fall dead from being old, Palin will be in charge of our country, which will be disasterous. Shes a bigger airhead than Bush!! Like we all didnt know he only picked her because she is a female and was trying to pick up Hillarys votes anyway. We all know Biden would make a way better vice president any day. We need to elect a leader that will help us, and McCain/ Palin is far from being it.

Posted by: Madelyn on Oct 7, 2008 at 06:56 PM
Go Obama! McCain plans on privatizing Soc.Sec., cutting Medicare and has picked one of the craziest females for a running mate. Neither one is qualified to be President. A prisoner of war doesn't make you qualified to be president. He was going to run a clean campaign and hsn't done that so why would you think he'd stick to anything else he says. 7 house, 13 cars, 2 wives. Obama 1 wife, 1 car, 1 house. He's got my vote and I'm white! Listen to what they say and not vote for color or gender!

Posted by: apuisnotdead on Oct 7, 2008 at 06:39 PM
Hey Joe! I'm not your dude. I'm not a citizen from the States and I'm happy with that. Don't tell me about blood. Do you know anything about spanish history? I can assure you that life is better here. So you can stay in your depressed area and buy a new gun or try to travel and get some culture, learn about others and open your mind.

Posted by: Old Professional on Oct 7, 2008 at 05:02 PM
I do not care if Obama is Muslim, bi-racial (as is my family), or can walk on water. I do not care if John McCain has been married before or how many homes he owns…I do care that folks believe we should not worry about Bill Ayers. The man and his wife are dangerous. They were in hiding and “on the run” for almost ten years, turned themselves in, admitted to the bombings but were not prosecuted due to a technicality. Senator Obama began his political career in Mr. Ayers home, and sat along side him in board meetings. If Mr. Obama is so intelligent, and a lawyer to boot, and did not know the background of Mr. Ayers, we are all in a heap of trouble.

I am glad Senator Obama is coming. This should shush all those who does not think he cares about this area. However, will someone- anyone tell me how Todd Palin gets off without much attention to the fact he was in an organization whose founder hated the USA and the government and wanted to secede from our great country. And now Todd Palin rides free on the taxpayers monies. If this was anyone but a Republican the person would be requested to give up his or her citizenship and not hailed at town hall meetings with his wife. You know the one who reminds you of Ellie Mae with dark hair and name brand glasses. We buy into who we want and critic the others even when we know truth. We are like smothering mothers when it comes to our politics: Be yea right or wrong there are those we love regardless. That is how so many love Mc Cain and Sister Girl with her Alaskain Ebonics.

First of all, OBAMA IS NOT MUSLIM. But so what if he were? Most muslims are a peace loving people. There are terrorists in the christian faith, the bombings of abortion clinics and targeting abortion Drs. Don't forget the targeting of minorities by White seperatist groups in the name of Christianity. FIRST of all, God gives us free choice! William Ayers was never prosecuted as a terrorist, otherwise he would still be in jail. The ties he had to the terrorist group were when Obama was 8 yrs old. Listen to both candidates with an open mind. Look at their websights, look at tax policy.com. Look at each candidates vision for the future. Dig through the bull of their serogates. Decide for yourself which candidate best matches your vision for your future and your childrens future. As for me, there is only one choice. OBAMA/BIDEN 2008.

Posted by: Forgotten 08 on Oct 7, 2008 at 01:42 PM
Nothing Obama says will change my mind. I think his kind of change won't work. It will further sink our country into debt that generations after us will be paying off. I believe that experience is the only answer. It will take time to reverse the stupid mistakes of the Bush administrations. I don't see Obama as the savior of the country. He can't do anything that he's promising without the cooperation of congress. That's what concerns me. He does't seem like the type to listen to others. He certainly doesn't give a darn about our part of the country. He only wants our votes then we become the forgotten ones.

I read where someone in Kenya wrote a book about Obama and got deported. Is this the best candidate for America. I understand people wanting change but this it too much change to fast. America is losing its culture and heritage and this will be a nail in the coffin.

Posted by: To Mo on Oct 7, 2008 at 12:46 PM
I am sorry, but I went to middle school and understand simple math. We are over a trillion dollars in debt. Obama wants to continue spending several billion dollars for these promised implementations of his plans. If less tax money is being paid, how do you suppose we will get out of debt? Regardless of the War, we owe over $500 billion to China alone. Simple math tells me that Obama will not be able to make these plans reality. I don't need a middle schooler to explain that, but maybe you do.

McCain and Palin are you joking me! Tell me how much, your current life has improved, in the last past six years with the current Republican, you idiots voted in for two terms, what good has come of it, Higher Gas Prices, No Jobs, No help on Prescriptions, or Health Insurance and Loved Ones still looseing their lifes on the daily bases fighting a war that's been going on ever since that idiot took office! Just imagine what the next four years would be like, just when you dont think it can get any worst, you idiots vote for a man who not only mentaly but physicaly cant get the job done, but who cares... we have good ol Palin, a mother and newly mother of an infant and soon to be grandmother to run a country lol, Get a Clue! Go Obama!

Both candidates are promising things they can't deliver. Regardless of who we vote as our next commander in chief they are going to be bad and good. I just wish everyone would stop looking at the racial side. Don't vote for Obama because he's black, and don't vote against him for it either. Make informed decisions people, then maybe we would be more satisfied with our decisions. I wish there was a way to get people to realize we need to vote on really matters for our survival. Not the color of a person's skin. I will not be voting for Obama based on the true issues at hand.

portsmouth, as well as the country need change, however I don't think Obama is the man. Yes, he has more than one tie to terroism, he has a questionable birth cert., he is quietly getting illegal funding from Kenya, he has the questionable relationship with his former pastor who is decidedly a racist, let alone the funding he got from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac when the crisis was only a tiny problem. He knew of it and still accepted money. His wife has submitted articles to a magazine that was also a racist magazine. I don't care whether he is black or not, but when 98 percent of the black voters want to vote for him because he is black, that is a race issue. If he has all these ties to racists and terrorists, how will my life be better? What of all the people in Missouri and in Vermont who are speaking their 1st amendment rights about how they don't like Obama and are being arrested? Will it become a Nazi state? I want to keep my freedom of speech. I wish I could go on.......

Posted by: Kentuckian on Oct 7, 2008 at 09:22 AM
Ryan you showed you weren't prejudice just by wondering why a black man was selling the shirts. If all are the same why would it matter but you automatically assumed a black would be for a black like McCain assumed that a woman would vote for a woman. NOT GOIN HAPPEN! Thanks George 41. Maybe he was selling them for that reason you gave or maybe he was smart and knew he could make a ton of money in Kentucky selling them.

I don't know why some of us are so ignorant that we do not realize that man has Islamic ties and has ties to and with terrorists! Vote for him and watch the terrorists come on our soil and watch this country be destroyed as you watch. If he were a good black man with good morals, that would be different, but he is a MUSLIM! Wake up before it is too late!!!

Hooray for Portsmouth! I have read many of the comments, and it is quite evident many of you "shoot for effect," but your factual content is lacking. Examples: Obama, one wife, loving family, worked to achieve financial success; McCain, left first wife in time of need, sneaking around with second wife who had lots of money, abandoned children; Obama, did not vote for Iraq war, will bring our troops home; McCain, voted for Iraq war, supports remaining forever; Obama supports the middle class; McCain does not know the meaning of middle class; Obama will try to see all Americans can get affordable health care; McCain's proposal will deny many health insurance because they will not be able to afford it; Obama selects competent running mate; McCain chooses babbling Barbie doll. Obama did not get our country in the mess we are in, but I welcome his ideas and believe he deserves an opportunity to take us all a new direction, leaving behind Bush, Cheney, and McCain!

I was at the UK football game last weekend and bought a shirt off of a black guy that said NOBAMA! It was great. He was selling them for $10. I asked him why he was selling them (considering he was black) and he said he didn't care what color his skin was. He was not getting his vote. I wear my NOBAMA shirt with pride. and no, I am not racist. I just don't like the man.

I'm from Spain. I lived in Portsmouth, Ohio, for five months so I have an idea about how people live there. How can some of you be so blind to not even considering an option? Mc Cain is a reactionary and Palin is a really dangerous woman for your country. Obama looks like more reasonable and culturalizaed. Left behind your prejudices. Sorry for my bad english.

JC, if we are not spending billions on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan then there will be plenty of money for the tax breaks. Simple math. Maybe a middle schooler can explain it to you sometime.

he's just as big a liar as the next politician!!!!! i don't trust ANY OF THEM ANYMORE............ESPECIALLY since i got involved in LOCAL politics they are ALL liars and theives, they will tell you ANYTHING until they're elected!!!!

I may be from WV, but will definitely by part of this great moment in Ohio. Very excited. I wish people would quit being afraid of Obama. If you choose McCain, that's fine, but don't do so out of prejudice and ignorance. READ something more than smear headlines.

I voted for Obama today and hope to attend the event in Portsmouth, just awesome!

You are stupid.

Posted by: Vote Nadar on Oct 6, 2008 at 09:59 PM
Vote for Nadar. Read up on him, you will find that he has some of the same ideas as McCain and Obama, and he doesn't BS ya either.

Posted by: JC on Oct 6, 2008 at 09:58 PM
How do you guys think Obama is going to be able to afford the tax breaks he is promising? There is no money to do so. It will be an empty promise. Lawyers are trained to trick people or to mislead.

Posted by: Obamaforever on Oct 6, 2008 at 09:58 PM
Pee Wee--your comment makes about as much sense as Sarah Palin makes--and by the way,I've already voted for Obama and I am anything but sorry.

Obama is too uppity for Ohians

I think its ashame that some people are still living in the past and only see one color! Dont the "McCain" voters know that he doesnt care one bit about them if they aren't making $500,000 or more? barack is for those who are trying to get ahead and wants to stop those who are trying to stop us (whether you're black or white"

Posted by: Tracy on Oct 6, 2008 at 08:37 PM
This has to do with the new schools in New Boston,Ohio some people don't think that they deserve it but you have got to look at the kids side of view...all the other schools around here have new schools but us and it is not fair..we have good teachers now lets get them a new school to put them in vote yes!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: NO McCain!!!!!! on Oct 6, 2008 at 07:27 PM
To bored, I don't know who you are including in "we", but I for one am voting for Obama and I live in Scioto County!

Posted by: brotha on Oct 6, 2008 at 06:40 PM
I'm not voting for Obama because he is half white.

Posted by: anon on Oct 6, 2008 at 06:36 PM
To Question (Oct 6, 2008, 04:45PM), He may come to Huntington. If there is no big airport near Portsmouth, then he will most likely fly into Tri-State Airport and then drive over to Pourthsmith.

Posted by: Pee Wee on Oct 6, 2008 at 06:21 PM
Obama is only interested in your vote and all the money he will make. So if he is elected those who vote for him will be sorry.

Posted by: Voter on Oct 6, 2008 at 05:40 PM
Does it not dawn on people that Obama keeps having rather outspoken anti-america people pop up around him...I know McCain is only putting it out there for political gain, but the reality of it all is that Obama is a questionable as all the other politicians....We're back to Machine style politics out of Chicago if Obama gets in... Like it or not, people need to wake up and read more, study their politicians and not get caught up in eight months of 'change' when that change really hasn't been shown or truly stated.....Sorry, Obama still hasn't earned my vote...

Posted by: Don on Oct 6, 2008 at 05:28 PM
there is no way I would vote for a former enemy to my country THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX STUPID.

I am glad that Barack Obama will be starting his Campaign in Portsmouth, Ohio. I am highly supporting him to get in office as our next President of the United States of America. People may say that he is a foreigner, but he isn't the next Anti-Christ. Just because he has a background that his father is from Kenya does mean that he is a foreigner. If you don't want a foreigner to run this country than lets give all the land back to the Native American Indians, since they are the first ones that lived here. And we can all pack up and move back to the lands that our ancestors came from. If Obama is a foreigner we all are in my eyes, except for the Native American Indians.

Seriously how could anyone vote Republican after the last 8 years? I don't always vote Democrat so I'm not a crazy lefty but seriously, on what issue do you justify voting for McCain. Because you like his personality better because he's way off on actual policy?

Posted by: Question on Oct 6, 2008 at 04:45 PM
Is he coming to Huntington, WVa?

Posted by: U2 on Oct 6, 2008 at 04:32 PM
It's a beautiful day!

obama is one of the biggest jokes yet MCcain is the man that will get my vote

I'd much rather continue reading about and seeing pics of the roaming Ram in Huntington myself! Than to hear, read about or see EITHER one of our wonderful candidates OR Biden OR Palin! There's not ONE iota of difference between O'bama and McCain other than they spin their lies a little differently BUT they both rushed back to DC and Voted YES to this disastrous "bailout" as did Biden. So they definitely agreed on funding the rich, forgetting the will of Americans AND adding pork which BOTH of them have declared all along they would fight. Oh yeah, they fought it all right! As fast as they could get back to sign the bill and vote! I'm so impressed. So WSAZ, HD and other local media? Please feed the rest of us updates on our roaming ram in Ritter Park & downtown H'ton! I bet I'm not the ONLY one here who is far more interested in HIM than in EITHER of these two candidates or their running mates!

Posted by: ps on Oct 6, 2008 at 04:23 PM
i don't think either party gave us much to vote for. if we think things are bad now they can get worst.

Posted by: Well Yippee-Yahoo! on Oct 6, 2008 at 04:19 PM
Whoo-hoo! Portsmouth & Scioto County FINALLY have a reason for "being"! They're actually important to someone but ONLY during election years, just like we are here in WV and/or KY! Don't flatter yourselves folks who think this is the second coming of Christ OR if you happen to think that McCain also ranks as that! They'll forget you just as quickly as they forget the rest of us in WV and KY (and the rest of the country) after November! Oh but then, BOTH candidates as well as the majority of our "representatives" on Capitol Hill have ALREADY forgotten ALL of us - they proved that last Friday by bailing out their rich cronies and getting their own little pork projects at the tune of 8.5 BILLION!

Posted by: bored on Oct 6, 2008 at 04:17 PM
Why doesn't he just give up here in Scioto County? We are not going to support him.

Posted by: Wes on Oct 6, 2008 at 04:14 PM
Awesome! Less than a month to go till the Rethuglicans are finally ousted! Time to steer this ship back on the right course. OBAMA/BIDEN 08!!!

who cares if he comes or goes,he is not gonna do no more to "help" us than the next person, I think we are ALL in for a rude awakening!

Posted by: NObama on Oct 6, 2008 at 03:08 PM
Will Obama drive into Portsmouth, or will he just walk "on" the Ohio River?

Posted by: Voter.. on Oct 6, 2008 at 02:31 PM
Maybe I can get some extra sleep that morning......I hear that broken record plays that same soundbites nightly on the news......

Posted by: Aaron on Oct 6, 2008 at 02:29 PM
Go Obama! The people of Portsmouth need a chance to become informed by the facts, this could be it.

Posted by: Go Obama!!! on Oct 6, 2008 at 02:29 PM
Glad to see you are coming!!!
