MARIETTA, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Sunday's Sarah Palin bus tour had many wondering just where the Republican vice presidential candidate would stop, and one couple took the tandem approach in their search for her.
Tim and Edie King rode their bicycle built for two from Middleport, Ohio, to Marietta during their Palin search.
"I made him promise when she became the vice presidential candidate that if she ever came to southeast Ohio, we'd try to see her," Edie said.
But the Straight Talk Express, as the McCain/Palin tour is called, threw the locals a few curves on Sunday. With no designated Marietta stops, the Kings faced a pursuing Palin predicament.
"We almost gave up," Tim said. "We were downtown and saw others on bikes or on foot. We decided to go out to the highway and found her."
Through their pedaling persistence and perseverance, Tim and Edie not only found the GOP vice presidential candidate, they got to personally meet and greet the governor of Alaska.
"We shook hands and met her," Tim said. "She seemed like a nice lady."
The Kings said one of their photos of Palin probably will be their family Christmas card this year.
Edie said the couple goes on 40-mile rides in the evening, logging about 2,000 miles a year. She said the back person on a tandem bike has to have plenty of faith and trust in the front person.
