UPDATE: Fire Destroys South Point Home; Ruled Arson
Investigators continue to look at a fire that destroyed a house in South Point overnight.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal's Office says the fire was intentionally set based on evidence found at the scene.

At this time, they are not releasing any specific details about the investigation.

A Blue Ribbon Arson Reward sign has been posted at the house.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered to anyone with information leading to the identification of the person or persons responsible for the fire. Citizens should call 800-589-2728 with information.

SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Investigators continue to look at a fire that destroyed a house in South Point overnight.

The fire along Township Road 1019 was reported about 1:15 a.m. Thursday. No one was home at the time.

Investigators say a neighbor spotted the fire and called 911.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office say investigators are expected to be on the scene today (Thursday) and Friday.

There were smoke detectors in the house, but investigators do not know if they were working.

Several Lawrence County, Ohio fire departments helped put out the fire.

This fire occurred only a couple of blocks away from the apartment fire the other night on Division Street. Strange and sad coinsidence.
