SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WSAZ) - Boy Scout Troop 115 invited the community to join them Sunday afternoon to honor local Veterans.
TJ Beavers, who is a Senior Patrol Leader with the troop, raised $6,000 to have the monument built. Beavers says he got the money by speaking to various groups in the community about how he and his troop wanted to honor Veterans.
It took Beavers six months to raise the money and get the granite monument built. Beavers tells WSAZ.com that he did this for his Eagle Scout project. He says he would also like to landscape the area around the monument and put in memorial bricks.
The new memorial is located at the South Point boat ramp on 2nd Street West.
