If there's concrete, skateboarders will find it, but those options, can be dangerous.

Just a few weeks ago a 12 year old boy was killed while riding his skateboard in the road in Raleigh County.

Many cities across the region have banned skateboarding from streets and sidewalks.

So Gregg White decided to open Area 51. It's a new indoor skateboarding park in Charleston where kids can come in off the streets and skate in a safe environment. There's first aid in the park and constant supervision.

The park covers 13,000 square feet. It's located Pennslyvania Avenue and helmets are required. Now if you don't have a helmet you can rent one at the park.

I am also a skater mom, and I have 2 kids, and no they have no where to go to skate, even though everything was donated, first they said no, because they have no insurance, we got it, then we have no where to build it, we got it, and now there is not enough kids, believe me,we have them, at least 15 to 20 kids a day come looking for somewhere to go, we could use the News Team over here, to help us find out why, the police take away the skate boards, give them a fine, then they have to go in front of the Judge to explain why they was riding a skate board, the kids have to take turns riding, why other watch out for the police, the old run down park, has nothing in it at all, and it is away from the road, there is a home built close by, and the owners said that they would be glad to make sure that it was locked up at night, so what now,WHERE IS THE NEWS TEAM WHEN IT COUNTS, WE HAVE ASK MANY OF TIMES FOR SOME ONE TO GET ANSWERS,could someone please HELP OUT THE KIDS.

Catlettsburg will never consider anything like that at all, even though it would keep the kids safe, and off the streets, and away from drugs, we have even got a business to pay for the insurance, and a company, to build the ramps, and also a place to put the skateboard ramp, and it does not cost anything, in a old run down park, that has nothing at all in it, and all kinds of kids and family members to help with everything to get it going, but why has it not been done, this has been over 2 years ago, could someone cover this story, maybe it is not a drug story, or someone getting killed, but it could happen, if we do not get something in here, for the kids.. could someone please help us out, email me and i can tell you , who is gonna pay for the insurance, and everything...all the kids and parents are waiting,PLEASE HELP THE KIDS....

Huntington used to have a skate park around 13th Ave towards the West End, but it shut down years ago. There is also a skate park in the Hurricane City park. There are plenty of places to skate, you just have to look for them.

That is great. How about something like that in Huntington for our children. My neice loves to skateboard and I have 2 boys who are learning and they enjoy it but there is no place for them to go.

I wish they had something like this when I was younger...its about time west Virginia built something like this, every other state seems to have a skatepark. Now if only Huntington can have something like this; perhaps the terrible drug use and crime would go down. I'm probably living in a dream world though, Huntington would never even consider it.....
