HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- When it comes to campaigns and election season, what each side sees can be very different things.

In West Virginia’s 2nd congressional district, the race will pit incumbent veteran Shelley Moore Capito against newcomer Anne Barth.

Numbers from Barth's primary night have her energized, but Capito's camp is saying not everything is what it seems.

Fresh off her primary win Anne Barth’s camp sent out a letter.

In the letter she talks about getting 23,000 more votes than her opponent, Shelley Moore Capito, who ran unopposed.

But Capito's camp says it means nothing.

Close to 105,000 democrats voted in the 2nd congressional district race; a significant increase over the last presidential election year in this race.

About the same number of republicans voted compared to last time.

We compared the vote difference in all of Capito's races to how the winning democrat did in their primary, and Barth has pulled the biggest numbers of votes and the biggest gap from a democrat to Capito ever in a primary.

Capitos camp says comparing these numbers is like comparing apples to oranges, but Barth said this is proof that the party is energized.

Shelley Moore Capito was in Washington D.C. Thursday.

She will be in Charleston Friday with presidential hopeful Senator John McCain.
