TEAYS VALLEY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Folks in our area will soon have a new choice when it comes to cell phone service. Verizon wireless is preparing to open their first store in our area.

Construction is almost finished on the new Verizon store in Teays Valley.

A Verizon representative said while the store doesn't have a set opening date yet, they should be open for business sometime in the next few months.

The only other Verizon wireless store in West Virginia is located in Bluefield.

I am currently with Alltel and live in lincoln county. There are some spots i have really good service and some spots they are just dead. They are suspose to be building a tower on the dairy road. Not sure when it gets done though. I wish how soon. But it is true that Verizon did buy Alltel out. I got a letter in my bill this month telling me about it. After the end of the year it is all Verizon. So i'll probably end up having my phones turned off. I HATE verizon. Suckiest phone service around. They are just no good!

...FYI, Verizon has a huge call center in WV that employs many people. They do not outsource all of their customer service overseas.

I live in Ohio and have had Verizon cell phone service for about 8 years with NO complaints. My parents live in Southern West Virginia and I travel there once a month. I am not sure where the Verizon complainers live but there are some places that you will never have a steady signal no matter what service you have. I had Alltel when I lived in WV and there are MANY MANY places that I now have service that I didn't with Alltel. I think Verizon should be a welcome addition to West Virginia.

They definately need to work on getting towers around the Huntington area. That I hope would be the #1 priority.

Verizon is also in the process of purchasing Alltel. Should be completed by the end of the year.

ANYTHING INVOLVING VERIZON IS BOUND TO SUCK. VERIZON IS A JOKE FOR PHONE SERVICES AND INTERNET. THEY ARE LIARS AND LOVE TO CHEAT PEOPLE. IF YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO IN YOUR LIFE THEN WAIT ON HOLD, YOU HAVE FOUND THE PERFECT COMPANY. THIS COMPANY IS A INJUSTICE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. THEY DO NOT HAVE PEOPLE WORKING FOR THEM IN THE U.S. NO WONDER PEOPLE HERE CAN NOT FIND JOBS, ITS AWFUL COMPANIES LIKE VERIZON WHO ARE FARMING THEIR CALLS TO OTHER COUNTRY'S THAT CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH....... I FEEL SORRY FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO HAVE THEM FOR SERVICES. GOOD LUCK!

It's about time. Every other state has Verizon. I have heard they have good service.

The old WV Wireless was bought out by Verizon wireless over a year ago, therefore their store has been Huntington for over a year.

Didn't verizon buyout West Virginia Wireless which would make that store in Huntington a Verizon Wireless store

ya a new store but no coverage i have verizon and have to charge my phone 2 times a day because they have no towers around here they should work on that first

I am pretty sure Verizon Wireless is already available in this area. They bought out WV Wireless several months (maybe a year?) ago.

There is one in the Huntington Mall. Verizon bought West Virginia Wireless about a year ago. They changed our service. WE had no reception at all in this area because there are no Verizon towers up. They kept telling us that the towers were going up and we would quite dropping calls. After 6 months we told them to cancel the plan. I live in town and couldnt hold a conversation with my next door neighbor on our verizon cell phones without dropping calls over and over. And since at the time there were no Verizon towers, We had to roam. We bounced from tower to tower apparently. The one good thing about this, was the texting. Thats the only thing that worked on the phones.
