BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A two-ton tree tore through a home in Barboursville Wednesday night, landing only feet from the bed of its homeowner.

It happened on Mud River Road in Barboursville around 8:30 pm. The homeowners believe the tree was rotten.

"I was scared to death to come back here," Dana Ferguson, the son of homeowner Imogene Collins, said. "Because I thought she was dead."

Dana Collins found his mother crawling out of the bed when he did get to her room. She walked out with barely a cut.

"I can't believe it. I worry about my neighbors here and there. Didn't worry about myself and I'm the one who got hit. Thank God he took care of us," Imogene Collins said.

Obviously the damage was very extensive, but even this isn't the worst part of the story.

"She does not have any insurance or homeowners or nothing because of them cancelling her insurance because of the porch," Ferguson said.

After forty years under the same policy, Imogene was cancelled just two months ago.

"I'm a survivor. This too shall pass," Imogene Collins said.

Ms.Collins was very lucky she wasn't injured. The Lord was surely watching over her. How awful that her insurance was just cancelled. I think they should fix her house anyways. After all, she paid them for 40 years.

Poor Mrs. Collins. Insurance companies do the devil's work I think. One thing is funny though--they probably would have considered this an act of God. The only time insurance companies profess belief in God is when it will keep them from paying out to their customers whom they have bilked out of thousands over the years. Shame on you!

Thank God no one was hurt. What a pity that Insurance had been canceled. Would be a wonderful gesture if some of the Trade Unions could get together and fix this house for thesse people. We need to take care of our own. How about it guys!!!!
