CEREDO, W.Va. (WSAZ) --From Italy and Ireland to Jamaica and Japan, the Olympics are making a splash with the youngest fans.

A half dozen local daycare centers teamed up Tuesday to compete in a few Olympic games of their own.

But, the potato sack race and duck duck goose were secondary to their newfound international knowledge.

It's the Playmates Child Care Olympics. Six different facilities each representing a country.

“These students have been learning about their country for the last three months since school let out, keeping notebooks, etc. Today, they came out and participated in all of the activities and that's how they got their awards,” said Lori Murdock, Director of the Lavalette Playmates Child Care Center.

It's all fun and games that's leading to a new world awareness.

This is the second year for the Playmates Child Care Olympics. About 250 children participated.

Its wounderful to see our daycare doing such a great job with our children. Many thank you's go out to all the workers for taking such wounderful care of our children! It really is a relief to know our children are taken such good care of !

Playmates is great. My kids have always gone there and I have never sent them to another daycare.
