NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Tuesday Governor Joe Manchin stopped by Jeff’s Appliances in Nitro to promote the state's energy tax free holiday.
Starting September 1st, you can buy energy star products without paying tax.
These products include items such as battery chargers and fluorescent lights; up to heat pumps and refrigerators, as long as the purchase is under $2,500.
The governor says everyone should be energy conscious.
“It gets people thinking, if you can save $7,000 on water a year and using 5,000 in less energy, why not, it's the right thing to do,” Manchin said.
This year's holiday kicks off September 1st through the 7th.
Next year, the governor says the holiday will be expanded to purchases up to $5,000 a year.
It will also be extended from one week to three months.

The state estimates it will lose about $300,000 from the holiday, but the governor says it's worth it when you're saving resources.
