UPDATE @ 6 p.m. Friday
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The fatal beating of a young woman with a flashlight Friday afternoon has police looking for more clues in the city's latest homicide investigation.

April Myers, 20, lived near the place where she was attacked in the 1400 block of 4th Avenue on Charleston’s west side. Neighbors are waiting for answers, wondering why a woman was killed in the middle of a busy street.
Myers was found lying in the middle of 4th Avenue around 1:00 p.m. When police arrived, the victim was still alive and the suspect was gone. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
"It is alarming to have a crime this violent happen in broad daylight," said Charleston Police Sgt. S.A. Cooper.
As the word spreads around the community, police search the scene for any clues that might lead them to the killer.
"Hopefully, within the next 24 hours we will know exactly what happened and exactly who we are looking for," Cooper said.
Police said one person could be involved in a crime they described as "very violent." They hope to release more information tonight about a car seen leaving the area just after the crime.
