UPDATE @ 2:30am
Charleston Police say the victim is Kendra Cove. She's reportedly in stable condition at CAMC General in Charleston.

UPDATE @ 11:12pm
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Apparently minding her own business, a 19-year-old Charleston woman was shot in the back -- in her own home.

She was in the hospital Thursday night, and Charleston Police are on the hunt for a shooter. The shooting happened before nightfall along a relatively quiet section of Quarrier Street. That's why neighbors say they're so shocked about the incident and on edge that the suspects are on the run.

"I heard a bang and then looked out the window and saw a couple of guys running across the road," said Shirley Witt. "We were sitting out on the porch eating dinner and we saw the police car go by."

The victim's husband was there at the time of the shooting. Police took him in for questioning, and he didn't waste time sending a message to whoever pulled the trigger.

"Whoever shot my wife, I’m gonna kill you," he said.

But police don't know who shot the woman or why, and they're not sure if she even knew her attacker. That is leaving this normally quiet East End neighborhood on edge.

"I'm shocked because this is such a great neighborhood," Charleston Police Sgt. S.A. Copper said. "We don't really see much of this. It is unusual."

Neighbors know it's something that can happen anywhere, but still they're holding out hope this is the last crime that hits home.

And police are still looking for the suspects: investigators believe up to four men are in a white Pontiac Grand Prix. They sent out a description of the car to officers throughout the region.

The condition of the woman who was shot is not being released.

UPDATE @ 7:48pm
Police say they're looking for a white 2-door Pontiac Grand Am, possibly a 2002-2004 model with 2 to 5 men inside.

UPDATE @ 7:46pm
Police tell our crew at the scene that the victim has been rushed to the hospital, and they're still looking for the suspect.

this man is not her husband. and it's killing me that everyone thinks so. i believe that the men who shot at the door was intending to shoot eric, due to an argument that had occured earlier. i have known kendra since she was 6, this has nothing to do with her and every thing to do with eric and his "friends".

OK I KNOW THAT TIMES ARE GETTING WORSE AND YOUR STUPID CRIMINALS ARE GETTING DUMBER. BUT I DO NOT BLAME THE HUSBAND ONE BIT FOR SAYING WHAT HE SAID AS WOULD ANYONE WHO JUST HAD SOMEONE THEY LOVED SHOT BY SOME STUPID PUNKS! I WILL PRAY FOR THE VICTIM AND I HOPE THE HUSBAND FINDS THESE IDIOTS BEFORE THE COPS DO. BECAUSE THAT TOO ME IS TRUE PUNISHMENT AN EYE FOR AN EYE. HAVE FAITH THESE ARE STUPID MALES THINKING THIS IS FUNNY THEY WILL SLIP UP EVENTUALLY. AND HOPEFULLY, SOMEONE GIVES THEM A DOSE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE.

I live in the area. This couple was very polite and her husband was soft spoken and helpful. I am really not sure what happened. You never heard them argue or have any type of problems.

Time to start scanning the interstates up to Detroit. Someone's going to be running home. Heartfelt condolensces go out to the victim; hopefully she'll be alright.
