WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A house on Barger Hill in Kenova caught fire Saturday morning.

The fire started around 6 a.m. The road to the house was very narrow and only one firetruck can go up the road at a time to carry water.

There was no one home at the time of the fire. The neighbors believe the occupants of the home were gone for the past couple days.

The fire was called in by trhe paper delivery person about 0530. Kenova can only do so much. As a long time resident of Kenova and Barger Hill I can say that many of us have petitoned to get the road widened for just that reason and we get put off. The state has other things to do we are told.

I would like to see the whole stupid town burn down, Kenova sucks...

the house was abandoned, and yes there was only one way to get to the house due to the downed live powerlines. And also the house was fully involved in fire before the fire dept. was even called.

If non-working fire hydrants were the reason why this home couldn't be saved, I would be suing Kenova if I were you.

The city of Kenova are the ones resoponsible for the fire hydrants The County Commission does not run the Kenova water system. It is the nsame all over the county. Be thankful that you have hydrants available. Most areas of this county does not have hydrants. I'm sure the Kenova Firefighters did the best they could under the circumstances.

Wayne County Commission will get right on the problem of Out Of Service hydrants right AFTER the November election.

When I was watching the fire I saw about 3 firetrucks on the scene. The road may be narrow but there are two different ways onto Barger Hill. The problem is that all of our hydrants are Out of Service, the county needs to look into this problem.
