RIPLEY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An audit has been launched into the finances at Ripley High School in Jackson County, West Virginia.

Superintendent Blaine Hess says they have hired accountants from Clarksburg to look at the school's finances through the main office accounts.

The accountants will take a look back over the records from the last school year.

The audit started over the summer, but still isn't complete. There's no word on when the audit will be finished.

All moneys from clubs and student organizations are required to go through a school's financial office. If money comes up missing (and it has)... draw your own conclusions! School systems always try to downplay this sort of thing.

EVERY SCHOOL IN THE STATE HAS FINANCES AUDITED EACH YEAR, OR SHOULD BE. OUR SCHOOL JUST HAD THEIR AUDIT ON THIS WEEK, AND TO MY UNDERSTANDING EVERY SCHOOL'S BOOKS ARE AUDITED BY OUTSIDE SOURCES EACH YEAR. EVERYTHING FROM THE HOT LUNCH PROGRAM TO BOOSTER ACCOUNTS ARE CLOSELY REVEIWED. I AM JUST REALLY NOT SURE WHY THIS MADE THE NEWS UNLESS THERE HAVE BEEN ALLEGATIONS OF WRONG DOING. IF SO, THAT SHOULD BE STATED IN THE STORY.
