CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia lawmakers are likely to
get an update on the damage that the Mountain State can expect from
the worldwide financial meltdown.

This month's series of legislative interim meetings includes an
update on the health of West Virginia's economy and business
markets from the state Department of Commerce.

Gov. Joe Manchin has cited robust tax revenues, low unemployment
and ample emergency reserves in seeking to assure West Virginians
that the state can weather the ongoing global financial crisis.

But frozen credit markets make it difficult for both state
government and the private sector to fund construction and other
projects. And with coal prices fueling economic and revenue growth
in West Virginia, officials are concerned about the upheaval's
effect on the energy market.

You're right Dave, he would do or say anything, especially if it would get his mug on tv. Don't listen the next time, just turn the volume down and you can see the demon looking at you.. No kidding just try it and you'll see for yourself!

what are the lawmakers going to do with the info. none are educated in economy. that's why we are in the dire straights we face now. they over tax and far over spend. i can't run my budget the way our lousy politicians try to run the state and federal gov.

LOL. Manchin knows what is happening in Washington.. All he has to do is ask his buddies, Dodd, Barney, and Osama.. don't let him deceive anymore. Ask him how much his buddies gave him from Freddie, Fannie, and Muslim extremists?
