KENNA, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A van from a nursing home in Charleston crashed along Interstate 77 shutting it down for about an hour and a half on Thursday.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. near the Kenna exit in Jackson County. Six people were inside the van, including 4 special needs adults and two nursing home employees.

State Police Sergeant S.E. Wolfe is investigating the crash. He says it appears the van left the road traveled to the median, and when the driver tried to correct the mistake they lost control causing the van to rollover and slide down the interstate.

Wolfe says at last check, all of the patients were in stable condition. Two helicopters and several ambulances were on the scene to take the six patients to the hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

To Anonymous: If you were in such a hurry to get home for your Thanksgiving dinner maybe you should have left sooner, and thank God you were not in the right place at the wrong time or you could have been involved in this accident and not even made it home to enjoy Thanksgiving with your family. Bet they would just love to have to leave in the middle of their dinner to come to the hospital to be there for you. Accidents happen everyday, they are not prejudice to holidays or any other day or night. These were special needs people that probably didn't even realize what was happening to them. My thoughts and prayers are with these people and their families (if they have any family and are not alone in the world). Hope they get well soon. Anonymous, I hope YOU had a good meal and spent plenty of time with the family and got over being mad at those poor people for throwing a wrench into your perfect day.

I just want to point out these were not nursing home patients and staff involved in this accident. They were special needs residents and staff of a group home for MR/DD adults. My heart and prayers go out to all that are still hospitalized.

I was stop in the traffic from this wreak, I was right there where the emergrey personal was working on these people. I just sat there and pray to God to help the people hurt and the EMT's. I am just very thankful that they all lived. It was a very sad listening to those people that didn't know what was happing to them. I am thankful that we have a good group of people that volunteens in our county and comes out no matter what to help people when it is needed.
