CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Rent-A-Center and plaintiffs have settled a class-action lawsuit that accused the company of violating West Virginia consumer protection law.
Attorneys for both sides announced the settlement Tuesday. A federal judge approved the settlement earlier this month and more than 61,000 customers have been notified.
The lawsuit alleged that Rent-A-Center's prices exceeded those permitted by West Virginia law. Rent-A-Center denied the allegations and said it didn't act illegally.
Under the settlement, Rent-A-Center will refund a percentage of the amounts paid by eligible customers who submit paperwork to a third-party administrator.
Rent-A-Center also agreed to reduce the number of payments needed to obtain ownership for all active rental agreements in the state as of September 8.

How can you get in on the lawsuit with RAC?
dear dear julie, when you finish your day, working your very hard job, backbreaking work, i'm sure--- i'm certain that you don't ever talk to anyone about work, and that you never laugh about a situation-if you even laugh-now do you??? i'm sure that you never unwind or never talk about things that have happened unless it's at home, right?? point is-everyone has a job, everyone needs to work-they are just doing their job-and everyone needs wind-down time-so get over it and suck it up. better luck next time whiner
I don't even know why R2O name came into this, this has nothing to do with R2O. R2O and RAC are two differnt stores, but since it did, I would like to say I have dealt with R2O in Ironton and Anthony and his staff are the best. I have paid off several items from them. He has also gave me great deals.
