It started with Kanawha county commission posting county employee salaries online and now a 5th county agency has followed suit. The Kanawha County health department is the latest county agency to post their employees salaries online. The information went online Tuesday. The salaries are posted under the mission statement section of the health department's page.

The salary information was always open to the public, but Commissioner Kent Carper says that posting it on the internet will make it easier for taxpayers to see how their money is spent. County Commissioners say five other county agencies are also looking at a similar measure, including the Charleston Area Alliance, Upper Kanawha Valley Enterprise Community, Charleston/Kanawha Humane Society, the Solid Waste Authority, the Kanawha County Parks & Recreation Commission, and the Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority. Agencies that have already went online with their salary information are the Kanawha County School District, Metro 911, Kanawha County Commission, West Virginia State Auditor's Office, and the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority.
