CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The man who stabbed and killed another man in Charleston will spend the next 20 years in prison.

Ronald Sutton was sentenced Thursday morning. 15 of the years are for involuntary manslaughter, and the other 5 are for being a repeat offender.

Sutton got in a fight with Zane Fletcher, and stabbed him in the chest at Fletcher's home on Blaine Boulevard in Charleston. It happened in March of 2010.

Testimony during Sutton's hearing indicated that the fight was drug related.

Ronald Sutton appeared in Kanawha County Magistrate Court Tuesday for his preliminary hearing.

During testimony WSAZ.com learned the victim, Zane Fletcher, was fighting with his finance, Desaray Pauley when she called Sutton to come to her house on Blaine Boulevard in Charleston. Sutton was with his kids so his wife went to pick up Pauley.

Pauley testified on Tuesday that she told Sutton there was drugs at the house so he would take her back to her home on Blaine Boulevard.

When Sutton and Pauley arrived at the house he got into a fight with Zane's father, Bruce, according to Pauley. When Sutton tried to leave the house Zane punched him in the face. That's when Pauley says Sutton stabbed Zane.

According to court records, when Sutton was arrested and charged with murder he told police Zane knocked him to the ground so he picked up a piece of glass and stabbed Zane. However, he later changed his story and said he used a knife.

The murder happened March 2.
