CHARLESTON, W. Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin became the latest superdelegate to announce support for Barack Obama for president. Manchin announced his endorsement Friday morning.

Governor Manchin's statement follows:

“I have had the opportunity to speak directly with Sen. Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton and they both wanted me to convey to the people of West Virginia how much they sincerely appreciate the support they have consistently received from our state.”

“Sen. Clinton also made it clear that she will be officially announcing her endorsement of the Democratic Party’s nominee for President, Sen. Barack Obama, tomorrow and she encourages all democrats in West Virginia and across the country to do the same, so that we can ensure his victory in November. We all know how vital it is that we make a leadership change in Washington, and we must be unified in our efforts.”

“I have also spoken with Sen. Obama, who first of all wanted to extend his deepest sympathies to those affected by this week’s flooding. I can assure you that he is ready and willing to work closely with all of our state’s democrats, republicans and independents to achieve a victory for all of America in November, and he is definitely looking forward to coming to West Virginia again soon. I have assured him that the people of our state will join him in doing our part to achieve the change that our nation so desperately needs.”

Hillary Clinton won 67% of the vote in West Virginia's May primary. Obama got 26% support.

Governor Manchin said he would withhold his endorsement until after the primary process was completed, but did tell some media outlets that he was inclined to vote with the state. By endorsing Obama, Manchin joins the state's other elected political officials including Senators Jay Rockefeller and Robert Byrd and Representatives Nick Rahall and Alan Mollohan. All have votes as superdelegates.

Democratic party officials Marie Prezioso, Pat Maroney and Belinda Biafore have used their superdelegate status to support Clinton.

Nick Casey, the Democrat party chairman, is also endorsing Obama.

Casey says Senator Hillary Clinton's decision to support Obama made his decision a lot easier.

Casey says he wants to endorse the candidate that will get the nominee.

The state's remaining superdelegate vote goes to Alice Germond, an official with the DNC. Reports indicated she would stay neutral until the convention.

HILLARY LOST GET OVER IT BE HONEST YOU WANT TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN BECAUSE YOU ARE RACIST STOP HIDING BEHIND HILLARY

Posted by: Doug on Jun 14, 2008 at 12:52 AM
Leah I will do the same, we don't have much choice. Rockefeller and the likes pushed Obama all over the country as they did in WV. He was just their tool to fool all the poor dopies into thinking he will furnish them a living. What we need is health care and a living wage for the working poor in this country. We are working for a song and then having to sing it for ourselves now. It's getting so bad that their is no need to try anymore !

Posted by: Buckeye on Jun 13, 2008 at 11:47 PM
To Leah: So you're calling a Harvard Law honor grad and a war hero jokes and your realistic solution is to get a write-in candidate elected in the general election. What exactly is your criteria for being labeled a joke?

Posted by: Leah on Jun 13, 2008 at 10:30 AM
In November I will be writing HILLARY'S name on the ballot. I urge everyone to do the same. Obama and McCain are jokes!!! If Hillary gets enough "write ins" she could be president.

Posted by: Gary on Jun 13, 2008 at 09:08 AM
Face it-all you non-believers, Obama is the Democratic choice. Live with it, like it or not.! The rest of the nation doesnt agree with you "bigots, rednecks," etc. Thats why West Virginia is always the but of a lot of jokes. Wake up and smell the "Roses"!!! So, I guess you will now vote for Mccain, who will continue the Bush policies alive and going!!!

To Anonymous: Now that's funny.

I did not like it when obama called wv people stupied thats what people should look at now should we put him in there now since we are all stupied

MS, Richard Pryor also had a stroke, but I'm sure you knew that since you seem to hate him so.

Posted by: Frankly on Jun 11, 2008 at 12:56 AM
Honor Grad, you got it all pegged right.. Most just don't know who's who and what they are really doing in politics. When our so called democratic leaders, try to prematurely infulence the voters in WV for their own reasons and then stick against the will of the people, it's past time for a big change iw WV. They used their elected positions to influence other state leaders all across the country also. This isn't a government of the people for sure ! Now isn't the time to give our country over to a deceptive dictatorship group just calling themselves democrats. These kind of people aren't a part of what made this country strong or where we are in the world today.. Yes vote for McCain and Russ Weeks too. Your freedon and right to vote is at stake here.! !

Posted by: Buckeye on Jun 10, 2008 at 10:43 PM
To HONOR GRAD: Sorry, I assumed with your title that you would take the conversation or debate beyond the surface. If you read my post more carefully, you will see that I only defended Sen Obama's academic record; nothing was hateful. However, I did notice another glaring contradiction in your first comment. You initially said "He, just like too many in our society, is following the crowd" and you ended with "go out and vote McCain like the rest of us". Is it rude and hateful to ask for which side of this herd mentality behavior your are suggesting we take? Also, what part of my comment suggested that I am envious of your grades? If someone disagrees with you, do you automatically conclude that they received poor grades? The logical fallacy in that assumption along with most of your other assumptions in your aforementioned post is so far off that it leads me to question your "honor grad" status and academic maturity altogether. Can we get back to the important issues now?

Posted by: HONOR GRAD on Jun 10, 2008 at 05:18 PM
Gee Buckeye, sorry to hear about your poor grades... Get over it, my post was written with a light tone. Why are you people so angry? Are your socks too loose? Did your dog die? Is there really a bee in your bonnet? Or did I just hit a nerve when I said too many in our society don't grow up, they just get older? That'd be my guess. Take a look at the posts on many of the other stories. Rude, hateful remarks. Don't take these posts so personally. These are comments from strangers. They don't know you and you have no idea who you are posting to. I'll bet if you met some of the people who post oposing views, you wouldn't know it. They would be polite to you and you to them. Why does everyone have to be so nasty or assume that every other post was meant as a nasty stab at you. What a shame.

Posted by: MS on Jun 10, 2008 at 01:15 PM
To Sugar, my initials are MS, and you still need to lighten up before you have a stroke.

Posted by: Buckeye on Jun 10, 2008 at 10:46 AM
To HONOR GRAD: Apparently graduating status is quite highly esteemed in your opinion since you like flaunting yours. Sen. Obama graduated summa cum laude for Harvard Law School. How did Sen. McCain do academically after his training at Episcopal, an elite private high school? I am not claiming that academic success should be the determining factor in choosing a leader. I am simply pointing this out since it appears that you place a great value on academic honors.

Posted by: HONOR GRAD on Jun 10, 2008 at 09:04 AM
Why are all you people so angry and attacking each other? Did you really think Manchin would support Clinton? He, just like too many in our society, is following the crowd. He doesn't care what you think, he doesn't hangout with you. Most people don't really grow up, they just get older (look at all the bickering in these posts). In his mind he is still in high school fighting to keep his spot in the in crowd. His supporting Obama is just like choosing Levis over Wranglers, Nike over Rebok, Macys over Sears. It is an empty guesture to everyone except those who are as shallow as he is. Come November you all need to stand your groud, show him you are better than he is, that you will not let peer pressure steal your vote, and go out and vote McCain like the rest of us High Honor and Honor Graduates.

All you have to do is ask yourself one question.Do you want to stay in Iraq? If you are not sure ask yourself these questions. Are we safer by being in Iraq? Has spending billions for the war devalued our dollar, increased our national debt, and helped to cripple our economy? How many young Americans have died for Bushes lies? The answers are no,yes and over 4000.McCain = stay in Iraq.Obama = leave Iraq.Who you vote for does matter.Do you want your child to be drafted?

Come ON Good Folks of WV.... Don't buy this stuff from our Governor, Just think BACK A FEW Months ago when OBAMA was out in the Mid-West and trully stated how he felt about us. THOSE PEOPLE HAVE HELD-ON-TO-THEIR-GUNS,And their RELIGION for WAY-TO-LONG.. Wake up folks, This jr. SENATOR does not have West Virginians' in his thinking or Best Wishes for a States People. Don't pay attention to the Super-Delegate on this issue, As Kramer on MAD MONEY says, "HE KNOWS NOTHING". What else would you expect Gov.Manchin to say!!! He is a Democrat!!! Be smart WV, Look at Obama as a EMPTY SUIT, Bringing nothing to light in the form of Change, real change. HE IS SIMPILY A " GREAT-CHEERLEADER!!! Heh, we can use him and his folks on the WV Foot-Ball Roster this fall,as CHEER-LEADERS, but for God sake keep Him,out of the Game,Fore he is SURE TO FUMBLE THE BALL AWAY TO THE ENEMY!!!

Posted by: Enos on Jun 9, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Sad to say, but WV will never progress as long as the people of WV let the minority dictate the majority. Where is Charlotte Pritt? West Virginia needs you now?

Posted by: sugar on Jun 9, 2008 at 06:06 PM
MS, maybe I was being sarcastic as well. MS isn't a laughing matter, Richard Pryor died from it. Your joke isn't funny.

MK, the gov. doesn't approve the legislative pay increases. According to the laws of WV a public committee must approve of any increases. I just wonder what members of the public were on this committee. Probably the spouses and family members of our legislators.

Posted by: MK on Jun 9, 2008 at 02:18 PM
Big Mamma, that was a funny comment about the PHD. If it wasn't for the WVU scandal Obama might have considered Joe as his running mate (since he needs help in Appalachia). Fact Oriented: Don't forget about the Welcome to WV sign disaster and he said it was okay for the legislature to increase their pay.

Surprised that many aren't commenting on the fact that those posting Bible verses about the antiChrist are not even getting them from the Bible. Trying to make Obama out to be the AntiChrist because your candidate lost is asinine. I would be embarrassed to comment if I had been mislead so easily by an email. It's probably a Hillary campaign official trying to mislead dumb hicks in this state.

To Another Buckeye: Take two points on opposite sides of a globe and call them points A and B. Is point A east or west of point B? My point was that anything can come from "the East" on a round surface. A Buckeye could arrive in West Virginia from the east if he wanted to take the long route around the globe. What we call Far East, Middle East, and West on our globe is completely arbitrary and relatively modern. Can you refer me to the verse in your God-inspired Bible that commands you to call people "STUPID"? I must have been reading the wrong translation or version because I didn't see it in there.

Posted by: Buckeye on Jun 9, 2008 at 12:41 AM
To Bill: Doesn't the statement "you cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down" defy the function of labor unions to a great extent? Does this also mean that "trust busting" should not be a policy of our government? Lincoln's statement was much more applicable to his era than our post-industrial society.

Posted by: To Buckeye From Another Buckeye on Jun 8, 2008 at 11:30 PM
Your rant that the Bible can't be real is hands down the stupidest reasoning I have ever read. The creator of the universe knew the earth was round when he inspired these men to write the Bible. He didn't need to wait until WE discovered it was round. And as far as East and West: East has always been east, and west has always been west, whether or not men new the shape of the earth, STUPID

I don't care how Obama gets the nomination, as long as he legally gets it. Time for Change! Obama Rocks!

Posted by: bill on Jun 8, 2008 at 06:01 PM
Hey Joe - I agree with most of what you and Abe have to say. But most of all the part about you cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. I bet if Abraham Lincoln could have spoke with Regan, Bush, Clinton, Bush 2 and all these other 1 world government minded presidents, all of our good paying jobs wouldn't have been shipped over seas. Words are cheap, we are tired of words, we want results. If not for us, how about our children and grandchildren?

Posted by: Bartram on Jun 8, 2008 at 04:59 PM
A superdelegate's vote is not tied to the vote of the state. That's like saying every West Virginian should write in Hillary in November because the state of WV voted for her in the primary. Ridiculous if you feel that way. More ridiculous that the Gov. can't do anything to please most of you. You are just bitter that the majority (nation not state) of U.S. voters saw through the lies of the Clinton political machine. The lies about Obama having not political experience (more than Hillary since First Lady isn't a political office and doesn't make decisions), being a Muslim (proven wrong), and being the antiChrist (quoted verse isn't in the Holy Bible) prove that desperate tactics don't work. Hillay is a loser and so are her die hard supporters. Vote for McCain and watch the gun show loophole that he claims exists take your guns.

Did anyone read Garrett's post? Those claiming to know God and preparing for the last days haven't even read the Bible to get their info. They are quoting Nostradamus and thinking it is the Bible. They need to prepare for the end of their salvation since they are misleading God's people. "Matthew 24: 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many." I would advise you to not listen to the deceivers, the Hillaryites. They are leading many to a road to ruin. "Matthew 24:27 27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."

Wise Words During this political season let's be reminded of these wise words. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves. Abraham Lincoln

It is a sad day when our elected officials we voted in office go against the way the people voted. We strongly voiced our oppinion and were ignored!!!! I am very scared the end of time is comming and very quickly. Please the only thing we can do now is to make sure our house and our lives are in order. Know where you are going when you die, know who your savior is and pray for the rest of the country, the end is near.

Hillary lost! To support her now is ridiculous. She is even supporting OBAMA. Look at what she said- out of 40 years in public service only 3 terms have been democratic presidents. Look at your current situation. Are you better off w/ the republican president we have now or have had in the past? How about you put aside your personal views and vote like Hillary will- for Barack OBAMA in the fall. A vote for McBush will only net you more of the same.

Posted by: Michelle on Jun 7, 2008 at 10:05 PM
There needs to be major election reform in this country. Hillary got 18 million votes yet not all the delegates. This splitting of the delegates by giving the loser of a state part of the delegates needs to end. It should be winner takes all!! The election season also needs to be shortened so by the time late April/May/June voters go to the polls their votes can matter more instead of voting after the choice is a given. Superdelegates need to be abolished all together. Elections should be decided by the people who vote, not higher ups in the party. That is afterall, what the founders of the country wanted. A government by the people and for the people.

It really amazes me that as a state we overwhemingly voted for Hillary Clinton, but all of our "high profile" elected officials have pretty much said "to heck with what the people of WV think" and have endorsed Obama. Why did we even have an election in our state if this was going to happen?

Posted by: another hillbilly on Jun 7, 2008 at 06:52 PM
I am not voting for Manchin or any of the others that didn't vote the way the taxpayers wanted. They were elected to represent us.I am going to stick to my guns and I hope you all will too. Let's show the next guys in office what we West Virginians expect in a delegate.

Posted by: Nate on Jun 7, 2008 at 06:48 PM
Manchin has nothing to do with Hillary losing. The other superdelegates went with their states. Hillary lost the popular vote nationally, hence the nation's superdelegates voted for Obama. The WV superdelegates just wanted to go with a winner.

I hope that all WV democrats have taken note and that our elected officals have totally ignored the will of the people. I was a Manchin supporter until this dumb move. I understand at this point it would be largley symbolic to vote for Clinton, but Manchin should have listened to the people that elected him.

In the most cowardly way Manchin has joined the pack with Barack. He's a CS, member of the country club now, ran buy the rich, power hungry and politically minded. They went against the will of the voters have proved what they are beyond any doubt this election.. You have the power of term limits at tips of your fingers this November, use it or forever hold your losses ! ! Hasn't things got bad enough yet for the working and taxpayers to try and buy some gas to get to the polls? Car pool and take some family members with you or we won't make it much longer ! !

Believer? A lot of people think, believe or accept their is a god or higher power somewhere like Buckeye said but they don't have a personal relationship with him. The ancient author of the bible was God. Men were only inspired to write his words. Believing is just the first step of knowing our true and living God ! Receive the holy spirit which is given that you may know the ture and living God. Hope that is seen is no longer hope but a personal relationship with him in you and you in him.. Not many left here now, in these last days his spirt will be withdrawn with his people. You are Right Believer this time is upon us now ! War in the holy land, earth quakes, disasters everwhere, incureable diseases, lovers of pleasures more than of God and a great falling away. It's time for us to go to real and better place.! ! Don't say God help us, say come and get us the time is here..

Vote for McCain...Vote for Obama. What does it really matter, folks? We are screwed either way. How many GENERATIONS do you think it will take a President to clean up the mess Bush has made? It certainly won't happen in the next-to-be-elected's term. Fact is, either nominee will be unpopular in the public's eyes. He will make tough decisions - some, I am sure, we will not agree with. I just hope that he can restore some sense of normalcy so that my son can lead a satisfying life. I AM A HILLARY SUPPORTER - to the end. But, I am not so sure I can vote for Obama. Or McCain for that matter. Regarding Manchin's decision. Why would he not support Obama at this point? Hillary has lost the nomination. If Joe doesn't support Obama, he would probably get little or nothing accomplished in Washington. Just like in school... always side with the most popular. It is easier, and you'll get more from it.

What governor raised hunting lisence fees? What governor abused the Sago Mine event for his photo op? What governor Closed the West Virginia Rehabilitation Center? What governor closed the State Cultural Center? What Governor wasted thousands of taxpayer dollars, by making WV and Marshall play each other? What governor pushed 4 years of math down kids throats, even the ones not going into math-related fields in college/technical school? What governor bullied WVU into granting his daughter an unearned degree? Remember that when you go vote this fall.

I used to have respect for Gov. Manchin. Now he has endorsed a man that had toilets set up on a police memorial in IL. Thats right Obama's people setup porta johns directly on a police memorial site in IL just last week. You can vote for him if you want too but thats ridiculious

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 7, 2008 at 10:43 AM
Didn't Manchin say he would back who the state chose? It seems to me we chose Hillary by a HUGE margin so why did he lie?

Posted by: Joe on Jun 7, 2008 at 10:38 AM
Democrats for McCain 08'

Posted by: agree with DON on Jun 7, 2008 at 10:09 AM
i agree with DON, no one will get my vote in the fall who endorsed OBAMA. they are not backing the people of WVA. if he had endorsed HILLARY in the beginning maybe others would have and this would have turned out different. i am a democrat but will be a republican in the fall, hell i might even change it on my voters card. republicans will get my vote in the fall and all my family too.

Posted by: Rick on Jun 7, 2008 at 10:02 AM
You had better watch criticizing the governor or he may send the Marion Mafia after you. Maybe Don Barack made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Posted by: Janice on Jun 7, 2008 at 09:33 AM
What a shame... not much of a choice either way between McCain and Obama, either way we are screwed !!!! Super Delegates should be dissolved especially if they aren't listening to the citizens of thier great state !!! I for one will have a terrible time voting !!

Posted by: Don't like ANY of them on Jun 7, 2008 at 09:05 AM
I'm still not for ANY of these 3 although I think Obama's the least of the 3 evils. NONE of these people in either party cares a darn about the rest of us. They care about themselves first of all, then all the special interests who have them all bought/paid for; they care about the rich & powerful AND the huge conglomerates/corporations. The rest of us can go straight to heck & look around, that's exactly what BOTH parties have allowed to happen to this country. We're in serious trouble folks and I don't see ANY of these 3 "finalists" as the answer. They're just more of the same old same old from both lying parties. I wish to heaven there was a 3rd party candidate/choice so we could show BOTH parties that we're sick of things as they are. BUT they have the Presidency so locked up if a viable 3rd candidate even TRIES to get his/her msg out there & run, they won't let them. Is THAT democracy at work? Not in MHO. This countrys sold out to China & Saudi Arabia period

IN my heart i belive obama is a good man and means well.but i also belive that makeing him presedent will be a very bad mistake one that we will all wish we haddent made.we dont have time to bring in a presedent that we have to teach what to do.and he said hisself that he would learn the ropes as he went. we need someone that already knows what to do for this country if there is anything that can be done for this country. and what this country needs john Mccain cant and wont do for it .with him we would just be on another bush trip.looseing are troops for a barrel of oil.our troops mean more to us then to see them die over something we already have.

Posted by: Gary on Jun 7, 2008 at 08:26 AM
To Believer-what kind of stuff have you been smoking? You are quoting from the Bible things you are just trying to associate towards Obama. Do you really, truely believe your twisted interpretations about the real truth? I think your mind is corrupted from all the crap you hear, read and see. You are a very dangerous wife of a Pastor. May God "bless" you, my poor child.

Posted by: Gary on Jun 7, 2008 at 08:10 AM
You people with your hillbilly ways and thoughts, dont you understand the political process? The superdelegates dont always vote w/the popular votes of the people. Its been going on for a long time. Wake up and smell the roses!!! Now is the time for you ignorant hicks to learn about the political process!

Posted by: Garrett on Jun 7, 2008 at 03:42 AM
Believer and Another Believer, how is Hawaii (Obama's birthplace) in the east? Is Chicago? It's more midwest. Also, the verse you mention isn't located in the Bible at all. You got it from an e-mail. It is a quatrain from Nostradamus. Maybe you should start reading your Bible and stop reading your e-mail inbox.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 7, 2008 at 02:00 AM
Larry I know they are free to vote for whoever they want..But We, The State Of WV, voted for Clinton. So now none of our votes count. Is this how it is. The popular vote doesnt count???

Posted by: Buckeye on Jun 7, 2008 at 01:05 AM
To Another Believer: Take notice...pass this on...witches will soon return with more potent spells than ever...pray for protection and guidance...This is from Mary Walcott, daughter of Captain Jonathan Walcott here in Salem. I have felt for sometime they would be back. They will be charismatic in nature and possess spells that cause terrible problems and their rhetoric will attract many young girls to their craft... God help indeed....

Well WV it is time to vote our representatives out of office. They don't hear you speak or talk. They want who they want. I say "ANOTHER DEMOCRAT TURNED REPUBLICAN"! It disappoints me so that Robert Byrd and Jay Rocker Fella could not hear you vote. What is Jay doing representing WV anyway? VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE. Our officials endorse Obama because they are spineless gutless human beings who can not have a woman in charge. I am sick about all the racism talk. Does'nt anybody see that it is not about the African Americans it is about the Applachian Americans. African Americans are racist against us. Michelle Obama made a comment " She wanted to punch somebody's eyes out" HELLO!! She is a racist and if you can't see it then you should come out of that Mountain State you live in and go to Chicago. VOTE MCAIN!!!! How do you think OBAMA is going to change? The Democrats have had the Congress for two years the war is still going and Taxes and gas are up so hey VOTE MCCAIN!!!!!HE IS THE 1

Posted by: Doug on Jun 7, 2008 at 12:08 AM
Thank God we still have Believers here. I was starting to think I had missed the second comming.. When I seen Obama's false church and pastor cursing god from the pulpit on national tv it really scared me and a cold feeling went through my veins. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Get out and vote believers it's our job to stand against evil ! !

Posted by: anonymous on Jun 7, 2008 at 12:01 AM
To: Believer, Even if the Bible says a man will come from the east. This subject is ok to talk about! Did it give his name? ( It is ok if you youself thinks Sen.Obama is this man.) You don't know that! I hope you don't say it is Sen. Obama in your church at TRINITY BAPTIST in SUN CITY! Does your husband say the same thing? If you did and I was there I would get up and walk out, No Matter who I vote for! I will agree with you about GOD HELP US ALL!

kudos to u seems as if someone gets the whole political scene it amazes me how some of these people think but as long as they are keep in the dark u cant blame them for being ignorant but u got to give them credit for being loyal even if it does keep them at the bottom of the ratings in every good poll and even after chaney made the crude remarks they will vote repb. just because of their racists ideals

Posted by: Wake up on Jun 6, 2008 at 10:32 PM
Ok do ypu people that are so upset not realize thyat joe is helping the whole state hillary is done get over it so why would he back her now do u want to suffer as a state just to say well he should have backed her do you not know the way politics work it is time you educate urselves why do u think this state is ranked so low in all areas it is because of ur backwoods way of thinking that has got uall there with joe backing obama that just may help him pick hillary as a running mate but i guess that dont matter to most of u since ur going to vote for mccain so go ahead and in 4 yrs when u cant afford to go vote it wont matter anyway or who knows this may be the last election we ever have so use ur heads stop and think put ur racism aside and help ur selves and to nancy ur attitude is exactly why hillary didnt win seems as if u are alike since u tell ur husbands who he can vote for bet ull make him carry ur bowl from the soup kitchen too once mccain is in office

Posted by: the innocent will put on Jun 6, 2008 at 10:31 PM
these supposed representatives of the people back in office come November - wait and watch. I do not care if you were to vote for Obama come November these people should not be placed back in office as they have taken your voice and squandered it. I agree Shelia it seems they did not want a woman but are trying to make WV a RED state - maybe they have been republicans all along and that could explain a lot of the problems in WV

Posted by: Buckeye on Jun 6, 2008 at 10:08 PM
To Believer: Fortunately for us, Obama is from Hawaii whose state capital is the western most capital in our union. That helps me sleep at night. The politics of fear has landed us in our current position. By the way, when the Bible was written, it wasn't known that the earth was round so how could it have accurately defined "the East"? How did the ancient authors of the Bible know what modernity would arbitrarily define as "East" and "West" on a global map?

I think Manchin is the best gov we've had for many years but he did say that he would let the people of this great state decide where his vote went and we did with Clinton. I understand why he did it but he didn't follow through with what he said he would do

Posted by: Shelia on Jun 6, 2008 at 09:06 PM
From a democrats voice, "McCain for President" no other choice.

Posted by: hudson on Jun 6, 2008 at 06:47 PM

Did you vote for your daughters degree also. I don't see you ordering her to step down from her job, or going back to college for a degree legally!!!!!

Posted by: suremac on Jun 6, 2008 at 06:05 PM
To believer: I'm not sure if I'll vote for Obama or not but your comments rate to the top of of the list of the most stupid things I've ever heard. Did you take this from the same Bible that Warren Jeffs uses when he rapes and abuses young girls in the name of God? People like you make me sick. You will answer to your maker some day for using the good book for your own selfish reasoning to attack a man with a good heart. Look at reality. Our press would let us know if this man was evil because they put more thought, time and effort into digging for dirt than you do with your ignorant opinions. It is better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and confirm it. The only thing coming from the East will be the stench of George Bush leaving Washington for Texas. I hope he falls in his bass pond. He has ruined this country because of his greed. And I don't think to much of his partner in crime Cheney either. Maybe we should vote another crook in to keep you happy.

Posted by: ok on Jun 6, 2008 at 05:42 PM
ok we all know that obama has won but here is the issue manchin said that he would go with what the people said so he didnt care what the people wanted he went with what he thought would benefit him if he breaks this promise what others will he break

Posted by: Gary on Jun 6, 2008 at 05:10 PM
To all you "bandwagoners"...as soon as a politician goes against your views, beliefs, etc. you want to go to another political figure who will hoodwink you dummies into believing he/she is for you. How can you be so gullible and ignorant to whats really happening in this state and country? What "you people" need is a quick course in politics 101. Oh! I forgot! You dont know what that is!!!! Laughing at you ignorant "hillbillies". You are a disgrace to West Virginia...go get some type of common sense before you open your big mouths!!!

Posted by: Average Hillbilly Comment Poster on Jun 6, 2008 at 05:05 PM
The point was he shouldn't have waited until now to vote. All the reps should have casted their vote after the people of our state made their decision in the primary election, and the vote should have been cast for the candidate that the people of the state had chosen. I am a Republican, but that doesn't mean I vote for Republican candidates during the general election. I vote for the candidate with views I support and will represent our state's voice in government affairs. It's a slap in the face for the 70 percent of people that voted for Clinton in the primary election.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jun 6, 2008 at 01:49 PM Could someone please explain to me how our "super delegates" can vote for Obama when their state voted for Clinton??? I dont understand that. Super Delegates are free to vote for whomever they wish. Your own party put it that way :) Manchin knew that staying with WV's vote for Clinton now would be political suicide.

Posted by: Another Believer on Jun 6, 2008 at 04:00 PM
Read and Listen well to what Believer posted.

Posted by: Ken on Jun 6, 2008 at 03:21 PM
Supporting Hilary at this point achieves what exactly? How does not supporting the nominee work to the state's advantage in any way, shape or form? Thank goodness in this instance the Gov. demonstrated a capacity for rational thought that continues to elude your average hillbilly comment poster.

Posted by: Believer on Jun 6, 2008 at 03:11 PM
Take notice......pass this on....pray for God's guidance on all that we do..... A man will come from the east... MAY WE ALL PRAY FOR WISDOM AND DISCERNMENT AND PRAY FOR EACH OTHER AS WE MAKE THIS DECISION OF A LIFETIME! OUR LIVES, CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN'S LIVES WILL BECHANGED FOREVER BECAUSE OF OUR CHOICE THIS ELECTION. MAY GOD BE WITH US ALL! God help us if this man is elected!! But it is all stated in the Bible and it will happen sooner or later. This is from Darlene Millican, wife of the pastor of Trinity Bapt. Church here in Sun City I have felt for sometime now that Obama is the one person that 'Frightens Me'. I believe the Bible has warned us that 'A man will come from the East that will be charismatic in nature and have proposed solutions for all our problems and his rhetoric will attract many supporters!' God Help Us All!

Posted by: Jonathan on Jun 6, 2008 at 01:14 PM
The problem here is that Manchin is a coward. He waited until his endorsement wouldn't matter. The nominee is chosen now, so it doesn't really matter who he supports. The day after West Virginia's OVERWHELMING vote for Clinton, he should have come out and endorsed her. COWARD!

Posted by: Tom on Jun 6, 2008 at 01:01 PM
Gov. Manchin is to be commended for going along with majority of the voters of WV. The final results were not to WV voters liking but Gov. Manchin did what had to be done. It is to bad our congressional delegation will not honor what the majority of voters want, maybe we should have super delegates from each county to help select our congressional delegation and the rest of our state and local leaders.

Posted by: young concerned citizen on Jun 6, 2008 at 01:01 PM
I am really disappointed with Manchin's leadership these past 4 years. Look at how his WVU Pres. appointment did (the ole boy club again)...and he still hasn't really addressed that degree issue and his involvement with it. He just kinda stays away from it for a while until he thinks it may have blown over and then rides the fence. He never intended to support Hillary Clinton...He was just waiting till Obama had the lock so he could find some excuse for not representing the people of our state. The morale of various state agencies/departments is at its all time lowest. He may say we are doing better economically but I know much of our future federal funding (like 20 years worth)has been bonded to be used now(Rt.35 for example w/ garvee bonds), which is a problem since we haven't been guaranteed the funding, and what about the next 20 years. He does not have the best interest of the people in our state at mind.

Posted by: Doug on Jun 6, 2008 at 12:49 PM
What a weinee, wait till its over and done to make a choice. It won't mater though, in the end the republicans will keep control of the white house anyway. The press always tries to sugarcoat it, but racism is still alive and well in this country. There is no way a black man will be elected president. Maybe someday, but not now. After that, its very unlikely a woman would be elected either. So there you go, In Obama and Clinton you have two very unlikely candidates to win the election. It won't matter which one is the president or vice president nominees, no way the democrats will win this time.

Posted by: to Gary on Jun 6, 2008 at 12:31 PM
No one's comments say anything even referring to racist, maybe that's your feelings, not ours. Color has absolutely NOTHING to do with it. If he is to represent our state and our people, should he not support us, after all, he did get into the Gov. position because of us, the VOTERS!

Posted by: Jennifer on Jun 6, 2008 at 12:21 PM
Thank you Gov. Manchin! At least Hillary isn't as bitter as her followers and she is going to endorse Obama on Saturday. OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!

Posted by: Conspiracy on Jun 6, 2008 at 12:18 PM
Something going on in our g'vmt, we're losing our votes and our rights. Manchin said we would support the peoples decision. He should have publicly given them to Hillary in support of his State. Who bought you out Manchin?
