CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - In their race for the White House, Democrat Barack Obama is widening his fundraising edge over Republican John McCain among West Virginians.

McCain's in-state total reached six figures last month, to nearly $121,000. Mountain State residents contributed more than $32,300 to his campaign in June.

That's nearly double May's figure. But it's also about half the $58,800 that Obama attracted from West Virginians in June.

The latest Federal Election Commission filings show Obama has raised about $266,300 in the state so far, more that twice what McCain has.

Obama also had four times the individual contributors in June. McCain's money that month came from just 75 West Virginians.

Political observers favor McCain to win the state's five electoral votes in November.

Why vote for Obama Or McCain? One is for big goverment and the other is for really big goverment. I guess if you don't want to think for yourself and let the goverment tell you how to live your life then thats ok. I want goverment to stay out of my business. I enjoy the thought of freedom in making my own choices in how I live my life. I guess a lot of people don't want to have that responsibility. I have found a candidate that share these values of freedom. Bob Barr But due to WV's discriminatory ballot access laws he may not be on the Ballot. I have one question for Obama or McCain supporters. What does your candidate stand for besides just "Change?" The only change Isee they stand for is a "Change" to bigger goverment. How about following the Constition? Thats a "Change" that I could support.

Chris: I am white and I'm voting for Obama. Your racist logic is apalling.

Obama is not going to do anything for the working middle class. Do some research, he is owned by the big oil companies. He says he is going to get the troops out of Iraq, but that is not going to happen. I don't think any president will get us out of Iraq, we are in too deep. I think Obama is just trying to say what the American people want to hear to get elected. Common sense says that he is getting all of his money for the campaign from big business. The working class and poor will be left out again. Doesn't this always happen?

Bruce, you are wrong.I would like to say that I only disagree with you,but in this case you are just plain wrong. You are entitled to your own opinion, but your not entitled to your own facts.Bruce,do you have the ability to talk about issues? Iraq,Health Care,Economy,Environment, just pick one.Your fixation on Obama's middle name makes me wonder if your still in high school.Tell me what you like about McCain.Tell me why you like McCain's stance on any of the issues that are important to our country and our childrens future.I will gladly debate you on the issues.BUT FOR GOD'S SAKES MAN STOP YOUR SLANDER.Wake up? Are you serious?I am wide awake and I am staring right at you!Our country needs a complete change of direction!Bring back the respect our country used to have in the world. For God's sake bring back habeas corpus!WE MUST IMPEACH BUSH AND CHENEY!Do you really want to wake up Bruce? Go on line and punch in Zeitgeist.com It's like a freakin triple shot of expresso!

I Agree with John, lots of WV IENS' Need to wake up. This man has Muslim Roots, and all you have to do is Look at the facts. Look at his voting record in the Senate. Don't listen, to the Liberal News hype, on this man. Move-On-.org and the rest have a agenda, thru this man.Just remember-one-thing. if he is president, in a year or 2 we will all be not allowed to burn coal, wood for warmth, we will all be walking or taking the bus to work,all-the-while,the ELITISTS' like him, Al Gore and the rest of the Greenies will take their SUVS' 4-Engine Cessnas' and laugh all the way to the Bank.REMEMBER, REMEMBER,His words back in march or April 2008. "THEY HAVE HELD ON TO THEIR Guns and Bibles for WAY TOO LONG" Hint.... Better WAKE UP WV...VOTE....McCAIN...2008

Andrew Jackson only had 5 years of government service before coming president. Barack will have 12 years of government service. Abraham Lincoln only served 2 years in government service before being president. Teddy Roosevelt had only 2 years as governor and 6 months as VP and was 4 years younger than Obama when he took office. Woodrow Wilson only had 2 years as a governor before taking office. Before that he was a college professor and wrote books. Hmmm... similar to Obama. Franklin Roosevelt only has 1 more year of government experience than Obama. Wilson led us through WWI and F. Roosevelt led us through WWII.

As much as Joe Manchin wants, there is no way Barack Hussein Obama will win this state. If all the white voters pull together, as the media is telling black voters to do, McCain will win the election.

I would really like to know about Obama removing the American flag from his air plane are we really wanting this man as our new president? Or is a made up story if anyone knows the truth that would be great. by Bill Dupray in: Barack Obama, Liberals, Patriots Barack Obama recently finished a $500,000 total overhaul of his 757. And as part of the new design, he decided to remove the American flag from the tail. What American running for President of the United States would remove the symbol of his country? And worse, he replaced the flag with a symbol of himself. http://patriotroom.com/?p=586

he has a cap on his fundraising. it's $2,300 for each person that donates. that's the most they can give. just FYI.

Posted by: anon on Jul 22, 2008 at 10:18 PM
That's a great idea Amy. I couldn't agree with you more.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 22, 2008 at 03:45 PM
Why would anyone support a man with no experience? There is no way Obama will be able to handle the duty of being a President when he has had only 3 years of service in the Senate.

Posted by: Amy on Jul 22, 2008 at 01:23 PM
That's just toooo much $. It's really such a shame that so much $ is spent in these elections, yet the results will be soooooo close. Just goes to show that $ talks. It would be so wonderful if ALL of the candidates used funds raised for something good. Ideally, I think there should be a cap on fundraising $.
