FLATWOODS, Ky. (WSAZ) -- With the Democratic National Convention just a week away, there are some local delegates who say a Barack Obama nomination is far from official, including Tyler Murphy.

Murphy -- in a bedroom that looks like a squared oval office, at the ripe old age of 20, a die-hard Democrat and a staunch Bill and Hillary Clinton supporter since he was 8 -- has hit a thin patch.

In a formal rules challenge, Murphy and two dozen fellow Kentucky delegates complain that with too many Kentucky men picked under required gender equity, the state Democratic Party replaced pledged Hillary Clinton supporter Todd Hollenbach -- not with a required female Clinton supporter -- but with state representative and Obama activist Ruth Ann Palumbo.

The rule challenge also charges the state party asked Delegate Jeff Harney to resign due to his sexual preference.

"He's a good man (who has) worked for the party, but he is an openly gay male," Murphy said.

The Kentucky Democratic Party response is that each replacement delegate is pledged to Clinton. Murphy said he's one of many national Clinton supporting delegates not conceding anything yet.

"I feel the Democratic Party leadership has failed the rank and file," he said. "As a delegate, I'll be voting for Hillary Clinton."

Murphy said he has nothing but respect for Kentucky Democratic Party Chair Jennifer Moore. But he also feels the early Democratic state caucuses were skewed to Obama, and the Florida and Michigan primary outcomes were unfair to Clinton. Murphy also said there are many Democratic delegates like him across the U.S. who may not be standing hand-in-hand supporting Obama after the last ballot.

How could you vote for Obama. Everything he says is leading this country to doom. He wants to raise the minimum wage to 9.50. That is going to lose over a million jobs itself. And that is just one

I just want to know where the experience of mcain comes from. did he learn how to be a president while he stayed at the hanoi hotel. Obama has just as much experience as any of them and if you are a demecratic deliagate you need to vote for you party or loose your title. Voteing for a bush crony what a joke. well dem if you vote repudlican for the first time you were never a dem to begin with and you dont know what you are doing.

Hillary won the popular vote, something needs to be changed to give the nomination to the popular vote winner. We need another Clinton in the white house. McCain loved it that Hillary didn't win because he knows he's a shoe in, you wait my friends, and see. There is no way Obama is going to win, not qualified for one thing. I will definitely vote republician for the first time in my life, no need for a president with the word bomb in his name. I agree if he gets in office we are doomed, the end will be near.

Obama want to change the changes that need to be changed what a joke

Everything that comes out of Obama's mouth stinks of socialism. Socialized medicine! Who is going to pay for that? Big business? They will just pass that on to the consumer and we pay anyway. The plan to extract extra from the oil companies and call a windfall tax is socialism in its purest form. Redistribution of wealth by the government offers no incentive for any type of industry to grow and create jobs. Whatever you think of the corporate fat cats and all the money they make; try to remember how many jobs they supply this country. They do not owe that to anyone. It is their company and their money to do with what they will. I certainly don't want to spin my wheels trying to create a business and a better life for my family if all I have to look forward to is the gov taking it and giving to someone they think needs it worse than I do. Everyone should pay their fair share, but to be penalized for working hard and doing better ....That's socialism.

I was (and still am) a Hillary Clinton supporter. I cannot and will not vote for Obama. Race has nothing to do with it. He is not prepared to be president. We are in tought times because of Bush/Cheney. We need someone who has some experience and not just someone who spouts off, "change and believe." It sounds nice but doesn't mean a thing. I'm a Democrat but if all the democrats can do is give us canidates such as Kerry and Obama, no wonder the White House is Republican.

Posted by: Passenger57 on Aug 20, 2008 at 01:22 AM
You know why Obama won? Because 1) Clinton ran a bad campaign, and 2)Obama got more delegates.Obama-a socialist? Are you for real? Got any proof? Obama the Antichrist? What? Where am I? You guys are so stuck on following Hillary-why don't you listen to what she told you: GET BEHIND OBAMA.KEEP MCCAIN OUT OF OFFICE. Unless she was LYING...

Posted by: Isaac on Aug 20, 2008 at 01:15 AM
It is a shame that those big fat cat dems listened to the republicans on how to pick their canidate anyway. How dumb can they be, Democratic leaders should have known that republicans were not out to help them!! You know that it was them who was telling the dems that a woman canidate would cause big trouble in the primary elections for the dems party!! Big stupid idiots!! Hillary was the only chance this country had to beat the same old same old we have been going thru for the last 8 yrs. Mccain is going to be a repeat of the bush yrs. And if you people even begin to think Osama or Obama is going to win your crazy! There are so many in the closet racist out there voting it is a shame. Thats why it appears Obama has a chance, cause these closet racist pigs are to afraid to be honest of course if they were they would loose their seat, old Rev. sharpton would make sure of that! But you see that is why we should really be seeing Hillary in there instead of Osama!!

Thanks, Kentuckians, for another proud moment. Why didn't you say something back in June? Don't be a pawn in the PUMA movement. They bring shame upon our country.

Posted by: Anon, on Aug 19, 2008 at 06:37 PM
Great job Tyler, Lets get out there and support Hillary. You all need to read your Bible, I honestly feel Obama is the antiChrist. If you put him in office, the world will end. Read Revelation....

Mr Murphy is probably the most faithful writer of letters to the editor I have ever seen. I rarely agree with him but I always find his opinions well researched and thought out. He is obviously a very intelligent young man who has the ability to form his own opinion. Why does he have to blindly jump on board just because the party is leaning that way? The fact is, he is right, the majority of Dems did vote for Hillary. Being a rebel is what made this country great. If you want to have a country where a choice few make the call and everyone else gets on board blindly, go to Russia, China, Cuba, Venzuela or any of a number of communist or socialist states for a visit. You will come back glad you have a right to express your opinion. A vote for Obama IS a vote for socialism. So, confused, just stay there in the dark and let the party tell you how to vote, you may not have to travel to find out how bad it is.

To anonymous at 4:25pm. You have all the reproductive freedom you want already! Keep your pants on if you don't want kids! Lucky you don't live in China where they force abortion if you try to have more than one child. McCain or Bush neither one are against birth control; only abortion. Birth control is being responsible, abortion is Murder.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 19, 2008 at 04:49 PM
Forget voting period. Your vote does not matter you idiots. WAKE UP! Rebel now! Get your guns ready. The county needs to be taken back....NOW. Stop talking and start acting. FIGHT THE POWER

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 19, 2008 at 04:25 PM
If people vote for McCain there is a chance that women will lose all reproductive rights. McCain just like Busk is against birthcontrol. Don't vote for McCain! So you are upset that Hillary lost, big whoop, that doesn't mean that you vote for a copy of the president we have now!.

All these people who are still going to try to steal the nominantion for Hillary are a bunch of whiny sore losing losers. What do you suppose will happen if you steal the nomination for Hillary. Would that make her even MORE like Bush. You would be handing the election to Mc Same, which of course Hillary lovers would rather do than see a black MAN in the white house. What a bunch of rasicst losers. Y'all should go climb under a rock and stay there. Aholes.

Heh Murphy, you need to contact Kathy Griffith.

If the Clintoistas accomplish this...I will not for the first time in my adult life vote..I will stay at home...I am sick and tired of Democracy undermined, from the GOP and now the DEM"s too....? I can't take it any more

Posted by: Confused on Aug 19, 2008 at 02:37 PM
I do not see this young man as a stauch Democrat. He should be invested for all Democrats with the party. He sounds like a Rebel without A Cause like many of our party members- no loyalty.

I agree with Tyler, we need Hillary. She got the most popular vote, but somehow Obama seems to have gotten the nomination. So people get out and vote for Hillary or McCain. I believe Hillary still stands a chance at the convention.

Posted by: Michelle on Aug 19, 2008 at 01:06 PM
Go Tyler! We need Hillary, not Obama, as president!

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 19, 2008 at 09:57 AM
What a major dork! How can anyone be that much in love with Hillary Clinton?? She lost, and a lot of people are happy! My advice to you son is get a new hobby!

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 19, 2008 at 09:10 AM
Florida and Michigan were not fair to the citizens of the two states, not Clinton. Clinton is the one who did not remove her name from the ballot like everyone else agreed to do. Hillary and Bill lost, Obama won. Things need to change people we don't need McCain (McBush) in office because it will be the same mess that we have now. Get over Hillary's loss and vote for Obama.

Posted by: NacMacFeegle on Aug 19, 2008 at 08:54 AM
Good on you, Tyler!

Posted by: Joe on Aug 19, 2008 at 07:09 AM
How does anyone feel that Florida and Michigan was unfair to Clinton? At best you could say it was unfair to the people in Florida and Michigan, but all candidates agreed to the terms at the time. How Clinton managed to turn around and whine about it after the fact (and so many people let her get away with it) amazes me.

Posted by: morninmist on Aug 19, 2008 at 06:50 AM
Good for him. He and other delegates need to show support for Hillary and for the 18 million that voted for her.

Posted by: Anonymous on Aug 19, 2008 at 05:31 AM
Get over it kiddie she lost.
