CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Republican candidate for Secretary of State in West Virginia says he will move ahead with his race this fall, since the current Secretary of State Betty Ireland can't fill his position.
Charles Minimah expressed an interest earlier this week to step down and let Ireland replace him on the ballot. However, it is past deadline for such a change. Minimah faces Democratic candidate Natalie Tennant for the job this fall.
Minimah used the remainder of his news conference at the West Virginia capitol to talk about someone not running against him. Minimah says current Attorney General Darrell McGraw is using his office to advertise his name with taxpayer dollars.
He called on Tennant to join him in crafting a proposal to the legislature to stop electioneering.
