FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - So many people are registering to vote in Kentucky that county clerks are using additional staff or working longer hours to accommodate the increase as the deadline nears.

A statement from Secretary of State Trey Grayson on Friday said the state set a record for voter registrations on Sept. 15 and would set another high mark after registration closes out Oct. 6 for the Nov. 4 general election.

Grayson said some county election officials have gone to 12-hour days or hired temporary workers to keep up with the influx of voter registrations.

The state Board of Elections is receiving hundreds of voter registration cards daily.

At the mid-September reporting date, there were 2,894,299 registered voters in Kentucky.

No matter what party or whom your pulling for people need to realize that the majority of the polls are not even touching the younger vote. These same polls are not showing the new voters which in most states have been showing them register as democrates 2 to 1. They are also only polling those with landlines and not those that relie on cell phones only. McCain gets the older vote which use less cell phones so you would have to think Obama will be ahead of those users. Obama is getting the younger vote so you would think he would get most of those voters. When you add it all up we need to realize that every state could possibly be in play for Obama and a landslide is very possible. Might not happen but McCains sold base for the entire election those over 50 shifted to Obama in the last 2 weeks with the economic situation. McCain might pull it off but I would guess that a landslide for Obama is more likely than even a win for McCain.

the reason for such high numbers is everybody is tired of these crooked people we elect, now a large number will vote them out ,just like we will here in boyd co. ky

KY needs to double check the "new" voter registration cards since voter fraud has been found in so many other states.
