CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The winner of West Virginia's Democratic primary for president will visit Charleston this Friday to endorse Anne Barth for Congress.

United States Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) will host a rally for Barth's campaign beginning at 1pm at the University of Charleston.

It is free and open to the public. You don't need a ticket but are encouraged to show up early to find parking.

Mrs. Clinton won the primary in West Virginia but lost the nomination to Barack Obama. She has been campaigning for Democratic candidates across the country. Late last month, Mrs. Clinton visited Eastern Kentucky to stump for Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford.

Barth faces Republican Shelley Moore Capito for the 2nd Congressional District seat in West Virginia.

What was this article about again??? hahaha..Don't we all just love politics....WV Rocks!!!!

Posted by: Think about it.... on Oct 7, 2008 at 10:54 AM
After doing some additional reading, I found that Byrd was the, I believe, Grand Cyclops, (I could be wrong on the exact spellings there...)...Buy hey, he saw the 'light' and the error of his ways...Mainstream voters didn't go that way so he had to do a 180, or at least a 72 or 73...hahaha...Yep, BIG DADDY!!! is the one for us...yeah right.

Posted by: Think about it... on Oct 7, 2008 at 09:02 AM
Byrd once associated with the KKK if I'm not mistaken, until that fell out of social favor....That reason alone ends any support of the man for me. Also, where is WV on a national level with Byrd serving for "years and years as Senator"?? WV has consistantly been 47th, 48th, 49th throughout the past 40 years with Byrd, Rahall, and Jay Rock at he helm...I just feel that there has to come a timy when change in representation would be a good thing for WV....Simply a breath of fresh air to what seems to be a very stagnet political atmosphere.....

Posted by: Capito Fan on Oct 7, 2008 at 08:24 AM
Capito seems to care about the people of WV. I am from a very rural area of WV and she has visited this county MANY times and was nothing but kind!! I appreciate her taking the time to travel 4 hours to and from Charleston. Unlike other representatives that were voted in office. I would have voted for Hillary Clinton but I will not vote for Anne Barth Sorry!!

I'm voting for Barth because I am sick and tired of Republicans and their support of this nonsense war. I am also supporting Barack Obama because its time for a change in this country and healthcare for all.

I've heard some really good things about both Barth and Capito and I'm sure both ladies are really nice people But I do have 1 question for "think about it", in your comment you said ..and I quote "Any other reason needed not to vote in Byrds coattails...." .. What is wrong with Sen Byrd? He's served as a senator for many many years and I think he Rocks at it and apparently so do so many other West Virginians or he wouldn't have been elected so many many times back in. Not trying to be sarcastic,rude,etc...Just asking a simple question. As for Anne Barth, if she did serve as a go-fer for Sen Byrd I would think she would have some sort of idea of what shes doing..afterall, she learned from "One" of the greatest Senator's in the Senate to date. Just my Opinion.

Capito is the daughter of a coal baron and has little in common with the typical voter in WV. Though their hired guns always convince the ignorant otherwise. I love mountains.

Hillary should just go back to her cave. We didn't want you. Get over it.

Posted by: JC on Oct 6, 2008 at 10:03 PM
Sorry Hill, but Capito all the way, and I am a democrat too, so that should say something. People need to start voting for the people that represent us and I am voting against all those in office except Capito.

Posted by: Another WV'ian for Barth on Oct 6, 2008 at 09:13 PM
Anne Barth knows how to get things done for the people of West Virginia. She will serve the hardworking citizens of this state well and will represent the values that make West Virginia great.

Byrd called himself "Big Daddy" a few years ago campaigning....As goofy as it sounded then, I can't resist using it today....BIG DADDY!!!!!

Posted by: Wrong about the facts Pablo... on Oct 6, 2008 at 08:35 PM
By the way, what does Bill Clinton have to do with this discussion....I think he's a heck of a writer and storyteller.....

Posted by: Wrong on the facts Pablo on Oct 6, 2008 at 08:33 PM
Congresswomen Capito was the only WV Rep with enough %$%$^ to vote AGAINST the whole 700 billion dollar tax ramp-up......So she doesn't always "vote in step with the President"...SHE listened to her district and voted the way of her district....Rahall/Jay Rock/ and the rest voted directly against their voting base...Whether they are Rep or Dem, our reps and Senators have to start listening to us voters....And by the way, I have to say I'm more against Byrd than Senator Clinton...."Die hard" is such a harsh discription....I try to look for the best on the ballet, not on the ticket....Can't say that I feel that BIG DADDAY!! is worth following as a person...sorry.

Nice post, "Think about it..." Sounds to me you are a die-hard republican. You don't like Hillary, you don't like Bill Clinton, and you don't like Sen. Byrd. Hillary didn't throw in the towel, she was beating by Obama. This is more proof you are a republican because you can't seem to get the facts right. Its time to throw Bush/Cheney and the mess they've caused out to pasture. And Capito is one of Bush/Cheney's imps, voting in step with the president. And you've seen where we are now; wars and wars, an economy heading into a depression, the rich getting richer, lies and more lies. Anne Barth will represent our District with our values, not the Bush/Cheney's leave no millionaire behind.

No Hillary no it's the wrong way to go!

Posted by: Calhoun on Oct 6, 2008 at 06:46 PM
Anne Street Barth is a nice lady, probably has worked hard for many years as a go-fer for Byrd. But not much else in the way of experience or accomplishments. Capito was brave to vote AGAINST the bailout - therefore I will vote for Shelley. I remember when Anne was a majorette at Charleston High School (or was it cheerleader)? I think she was a homecoming queen too... still, not a reason to elect her to Congress.

Posted by: Think about it... on Oct 6, 2008 at 05:42 PM
Barth is supported by Hillary "I'm throwing in the towel" Clinton and Big Daddy!!!! Any other reason needed not to vote in Byrds coattails....
