LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell's latest campaign-finance report shows he had nearly $6 million in the bank for the stretch run of his campaign for a fifth term.
The report that McConnell is filing Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission shows he raised $2.6 million in the three months ending Sept. 30.
McConnell's campaign says he had $5.7 million cash on hand at the end of the quarter.
For the entire campaign, McConnell has raised $17.8 million.
McConnell - the Senate's top-ranking Republican - is locked in a tough race against Democratic businessman Bruce Lunsford, who is expected to announce his campaign-finance numbers later in the day.
