FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Republican U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning says
he'll need about $10 million for his re-election efforts in 2010.

Kentucky's 77-year-old junior senator says he wants a third term
in the U.S. Senate. The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the Hall of
Fame pitcher is confident about his chances two years from now.

Bunning says he's ready for a Democratic challenge.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell defeated Democrat Bruce
Lunsford in last week's election, retaining the seat for the GOP.

Bunning fended off a 2004 challenge from now Lt. Gov. Daniel
Mongiardo, who was a state senator from Hazard at the time. Bunning
won by about 23,000 votes in that contest.

Bunning will need $20 million to win. He is less popular than McConnell and much older. His behavior was quite strange during his 2004 race. I wonder if the meds have helped?
