THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF UNITED STATES SENATOR JAY ROCKEFELLER.

Washington, D.C. – Senator Jay Rockefeller today announced that he has nominated John Hipes of Point Pleasant for an appointment to the United States Military Academy. Rockefeller’s nomination is the first step in the process toward receiving an official appointment to the Academy.

“I’m incredibly proud to nominate John for an appointment to West Point,” Rockefeller said. “He is certainly a deserving nominee, given his strong academic record and involvement, and his serious desire to join in our state’s proud tradition of military service. I know that if given the opportunity, he’ll serve our country greatly.”

John, son of Leslie Stepp Hipes, is a student at Point Pleasant High School.
