THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF OHIO CONGRESSMAN CHARLIE WILSON.
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Charlie Wilson (OH-6) is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is releasing funding to Ohio’s Sixth District as specified by the Recovery Act.
COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS
Ohio’s Sixth District will receive nearly $3 million in grants to address urgent health center facility and equipment needs.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Recovery Act Capital Improvement Program grants will support the construction, repair, and renovation of health center sites nationwide. $2,758,890 will go to four community health centers in the Sixth District.
The Community Action Agency of Columbiana will receive $600,105. The Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization is set to receive $665,660. Ohio Hills Health Services in Barnesville will receive $473,860. Each center will use the funds to purchase new equipment or health information technology, and expand the use of electronic health records.
The largest of the grants to serve the Sixth District will go to Family Healthcare, Inc., which is set to receive $1,019,265. Though this community health care organization is based in Chillicothe, it plans to use its Recovery money to build a new health center in Meigs County.
“This is great news for Ohio’s Sixth District,” Wilson said. “These funds will help ensure that our community health centers can continue to offer their important services efficiently and effectively.”
