THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF OHIO CONGRESSMAN CHARLIE WILSON.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Charlie Wilson (OH-6) is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Transportation and the U.S. Department of Agriculture have posted that they will release funding to Ohio as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

TRANSPORTATION
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, Ohio will receive over $9 million in Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) and Federal Transit Authority (FTA) funds for investments in equipment and technology that will help meet Ohio’s the transit needs. More than one million dollars will go to Ohio’s Sixth District.

"I am very pleased to announce the release of these Recovery funds for Ohio's Sixth District,” Wilson said. “This money will create jobs, increase the efficiency of public transportation, and reduce general travel expenses for working families across Ohio. The funding represents a continued commitment by the Obama administration to protecting the livelihoods and security of Ohio’s families.”

Of the Ohio funding, $1,090,986 will go directly to Ohio’s Sixth District. Projects include:

COMMUNITY FACILITIES
According to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Ohio’s Sixth District will also be receiving $337,000 for community facility projects in rural areas. The funds are being provided through USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities program as part of the Recovery Act.

“These funds are going to ensure that essential community facilities in rural Ohio are fully functioning.” Wilson said. “This is an excellent investment of our recovery money.”
