CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia's public servants would disclose more about their financial holdings and outside employment, and report similar information about their spouses, under legislation advancing to the state Senate.

The bill passed unanimously Wednesday by the House of Delegates would also prevent some officials from becoming lobbyists for one year after leaving state service.

The state Ethics Commission oversees disclosures, and requested the bulk of the measure. The nonpartisan Center for Public Integrity recently flunked the state for its disclosure standards.

Delegates amended the bill Wednesday to have disclosures posted online, starting next year with statewide officials. They rejected a proposal to extend the lobbying ban to political party chairs.
