9 PM Update

If you have been watching the Stanley Cup Finals on WSAZ this evening, you know it has been a stormy night. Our power has been flickering off and on as the Pens try to ward off the Red Wings.

Tornado alerts were posted earlier in Lewis and Scioto Counties. No confirmations yet, but we have reports a tornado may have occured in nearby Greenup County. We are awaiting ground truth on this event.

The high winds aside, Flood Warnings galore are flying across much of the region north of I-64 where streams are out of their banks and roads are closed in many locations. Greenup, Lewis, Boyd KY and Cabell, Mason, Putnam, Kanawha and Jackson WV and all Southern Ohio Counties are under Flood Warnings this Wednesday night.

Remember the golden rule for darkness floods; namley, never cross a flooded road at night when visibility is poor.

Severe Weather Announces Heat

Talk about Déjà vu! The title of today’s blog is being borrowed from Monday’s prose and sure fits the bill again. Wednesday’s violent storms are paving the way to a scorching hot end of the school year.

But first things first as we must navigate still another Tornado Watch this Wednesday evening. Until 8 PM a crescent that extends from the River Cities of Huntington-Ashland-Ironton thru the Kanawha Valley is under close scrutiny for possible high winds, hail and even a twister.

So far today, no tornadoes have been reported, just plenty of strong winds, hail and torrential downpours. That means Flash Flooding has become a problem as rainfalls have reached as high as 4 inches the past 2 days. We know of flooding in Greenup, Lewis Ky and Gallia and Lawrence Ohio to name a few counties.

In a nutshell, the rains are trumpeting the arrival of a heat wave which will see temperatures jump into the 90s beginning Thursday and lasting into early next week.

I will add to this blog as time permits tonight.

Does anyone know if Clay Co. WV was declared a disaster area after the severe wind storms that went thru on Wed. June 4th? A lot of power lines were downed as well as large trees and many lost their roofs from their homes. Please let me know if help is available. Thanks

We haven't seen anything yet, this is just the beginning of God's rath on a slotful, obese nation full of dope, crime and corupt leaders from the top to the bottom !. The earth quakes will be next like the ones in China. People that voted in a guy after knowing what he is, will continue to pay. They have made a mockery of God before millions in this country and the people and other leaders stood behind it.. God will not be mocked count on it !

After the last 2 days and 3 tornado warnings on radio for Lewis Co, Ky...we are ready for some peace and quiet and a good nights sleep. Family members in Portsmouth, Ohio and Greenup Co, Ky..also had to take cover, with their tornado warnings. 70 mph winds, very dark outside, extreme downpours, flooding, landslides, downed trees, power outages, and left road #344 closed last night. Neighbors with logging equipment worked for hours clearing hillslide off of road way past our house, so they could get home to their children. Everyone is okay and still got all of our homes..we thank God above for watching over us all.

I have a complaint. We had a horrible storm in Huntington about 8ish last night. All the other TV stations the Weather Channel had tornado watches up. WSAZ had no notice of a tornado watch. I've watched WSAZ since I was a child, its the first place I come. But, after last night and a few other times others had watches and warnings posted and ya'll didn't....I may go elsewhere for my weather coverage. I want the safety of my family with someone I can depend on.

Finally electric is back on. Went out around 8:30PM, came back on 11:45PM. We had hail and horrible winds, blew a tree over in the yard and the pond is running over. 2 big storms here today, last one was about the biggest I have seen for awhile. The lighting was fierce, even the horses crowded together in fear.

I was heading south on Ky. rt.5 around 6:30 pm., turned to look behind me and saw a massive white funnel cloud,I was sure this thing was a tornado,it had to be more than a half-mile wide but from my vantage point I was unable to see if it ever touched down, also we were unable to see any rotation, my father in-law was driving and I alerted him to it,he stopped and we both got out to look at it and we just stood there and marveled at this huge funnel, I was wondering if anyone else saw this? I thought I was going to see an F4 or F5 form right before my eyes, the funnel was extremely tall with a huge wall cloud around it and very black clouds behind it but the funnel itself was white in color. again I viewed this from Ky. rt.5 looking northwest. Any other info on this would be greatly appreciated as this was the first time I have ever witnessed a funnel cloud of this size and color, it was very startling but it was also beautiful.
