CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Woodrow Wilson won its record 16th boys state basketball championship by beating top-seeded South Charleston 67-55 in the Class AAA title game Saturday night.

The sixth-seeded Flying Eagles (19-7) earned their first crown since 2004 and avenged a three-point loss to South Charleston (25-2) during the regular season.

South Charleston is 1-5 when playing for a state championship. It hasn't won a title since 1959.

Travis Parkulo's layup and 3-pointer a minute apart put Woodrow Wilson ahead to stay, 18-15, early in the second quarter.

South Charleston trailed 52-50 midway through the fourth quarter before Woodrow Wilson scored 15 of the game's final 20 points.

Ryan Powers led Woodrow Wilson with 14 points. Aaron Dobson and Pierria Henry had 13 apiece for South Charleston.
