MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia University officials say basketball coach Bob Huggins has been taken to a hospital in Charlotte, N.C., after tripping on an airport tarmac and hitting his head on the pavement.

Athletic Director Ed Pastilong says Huggins and other athletic department staff flew to Charlotte on Thursday morning for a Mountaineer Athletic Club event.

After Huggins got off the plane, he was checking his cell phone messages when he tripped over a cone on the tarmac and hit his head.

Pastilong says Huggins suffered a bump on the head, never lost consciousness and was taken to a Charlotte-area hospital for precautionary reasons.

Hey, Booger eater...I know that!!! But greatness follows those who step in to take over those that went on to other positions. I met Huggie bear at a WVU Alumini party and this man is a true coach in all aspects. At least we did have some players that went onto the NFL! How many blundering herd players have a superbowl ring....enough said,,,I thought so! Pac-man is going to my beloved COWBOYS..another great player from WVU!!!

I wouldn't jump on any bandwagon Huggins was driving...lol I value my life

Daryl, Huggie-bear's only been there for one year, idiot. And considering WVU had three players that went far down in the draft, I'd shut up. Here's a question for you: How many WVU players were in this years Superbowl? MU had 5. Three of them starters. One has a receiving record. Where's Pac-man? Oh probably in a strip club shooting someone. Philip knows what's up. Listen to him.

Alright, How do you miss a cone??? I mean, Isn't it supposed to be something that is noticeable?

Posted by: Jeanine on May 9, 2008 at 11:29 AM
Phillip - where in the world are you from? I would hope not WV.

Posted by: Daryl on May 9, 2008 at 09:50 AM
To Anonymous: Huggins is still high from beating the blundering herd in the past two years and many years to come! Lets Go Mountaineers! Hey don't be jealous Pete, What is next for WVU, I would say more players to the NFL from a NO. 1 school of greatness and PRIDE!

Posted by: Debbie on May 9, 2008 at 08:44 AM
Anon, I don't hate WVU in the least, as a matter of fact my oldest will probably go there. Huggins does have a history of imbibing, and has had DUIs in the past. So it's a fair question.

I dare you bunch of haters to jump on the band wagon when Huggins shows you what WVU basketball can be

Posted by: Philip on May 8, 2008 at 08:50 PM
hope they checked his blood alcohol content at the hospital.........I would bet he was drinking or drunk...he has a history, thuggins, never graduates players,WVU is in a mess, their degrees have been compromised by the governors daughter,Rodriquez was smart enough to leave, then they hire a drunken cheat for a basketball coach
