CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - George Washington's boys captured the
Class Triple-A state tennis title today, although the Patriot girls
lost their shot at a third straight championship on a tiebreaker.

Charleston Catholic won both the boys and girls titles in Class
Double-and-Single-A.

George Washington's boys won their third state crown in four
years. The Patriots got title wins from Logan Spears at number 2
singles and Ryan Lucci at number 4. The pair combined to win the
number 2 doubles title, and George Washington's Garett Rhodes and
Will Lorensen won the number 3 doubles crown.

Parkersburg's Goldie Preston and Lakin Whitlatch won the number
2 girls doubles championship in the final match of the day, moving
the Big Reds into a tie for first-place with George Washington.
Both teams won three championship matches but Parkersburg earned
the second tiebreaker because it had four finalists to three for
George Washington.

Charleston Catholic beat Petersburg by four points in the girls
team race and Bluefield by nine points on the boys side.
