SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - Joe Larson of Newbury Park, Calif.,
was the medalist Tuesday during local qualifying for the U.S. Open
at Edgewood Country Club.
Larson shot 4-under-par 66 on the 6,779-yard layout. Monte
Chittum of St. Albans and Uly Grissette of Cemmons, N.C., each shot
69. All three advanced to 36-hole sectional qualifying, which will
be held at 13 sites nationally on June 2.
Meanwhile, three-time West Virginia Open champion David Bradshaw
shot a 70 to tie two others for medalist honors at a local
qualifier Tuesday in Beallsville, Md.
The U.S. Open will be held at Torrey Pines' South Course near
San Diego on June 12-15.
