HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Marshall basketball player Octavius
Spann's recovery from injuries in an auto accident will take longer
than expected.
Coach Donnie Jones says Spann fractured a hip and suffered a
concussion in the April 23 accident in Huntington.
Jones initially said Spann would be sidelined four to six weeks.
Now Jones says the recovery period will be eight to 10 weeks.
Spann was heading to campus for a workout when a dump truck
collided with the car he was driving. Spann was released from a
hospital the same day, but he remains on crutches.
The 6-foot-6 Spann sat out the 2007-08 season as a transfer from
Georgetown.
