CHICAGO (AP) - Eight-year-old Adam Bender is usually pretty
talkative, but he had a hard time finding any words during a visit
to Chicago.

That's because Chicago White Sox first baseman Nick Swisher
welcomed Bender to U.S. Cellular Field on Tuesday.

Bender had his left leg amputated at the age of 1 during a
successful battle against cancer.

He came to Swisher's attention when he read an article
documenting the Lexington, Ky., native's exploits as a catcher in
youth baseball.

Bender received a personalized White Sox jersey with Swisher's
number 30 on the back.

Swisher says it's a thrill.

Bender's appearance came on the first anniversary of Swisher's
charitable organization, Swish's Wishes.

The organizations assists with medical and childhood care,
education, recreational activities and other programs for kids.
