NEW YORK (AP) - A record seven Chicago Cubs are joined by seven Boston Red Sox players on the All-Star Game rosters announced Sunday.

The New York Yankees will be well represented, too, for the July 15th game at their own ballpark. Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez was the top vote-getter. He's joined by shortstop Derek Jeter and reliever Mariano Rivera.

Manny Ramirez leads four Red Sox starters including first baseman Kevin Youkilis, second baseman Dustin Pedroia and DH David Ortiz. Ortiz will miss the game because of a wrist injury and AL manager Terry Francona says Milton Bradley of the Rangers will take his place.

Tampa Bay has the best record in baseball but didn't have a single player elected to start. Pitcher Scott Kazmir and catcher Dioner Navarro were named to the squad.

Cubs Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukodome start in the NL outfield with Milwaukee's Ryan Braun who beating out Ken Griffey Junior. Chicago's Geovany Soto is the NL's starting catcher.

Cubs pitchers Kerry Wood and Ryan Dempster and third baseman Aramis Ramirez were chosen by NL players, and pitcher Carlos Zambrano was picked by NL manager Clint Hurdle of Colorado.

Boston outfielder J.D. Drew, catcher Jason Varitek and closer Jonathan Papelbon were picked by a vote of AL players.

Griffey Left Off Initial National League Roster:

NEW YORK (AP) - Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun overtook the Reds' Ken Griffey Junior in the final week of fan voting for the All-Star team, leaving Griffey off the roster.

Griffey finished fourth in voting for the NL outfield.

He was second in the NL balloting released Monday, leading Braun by about 167,000 votes. But Braun wound up winning among NL outfielders while Griffey finished 87,000 behind Chicago Cubs outfielder Kosuke Fukudome.

A record seven Chicago Cubs were joined by seven Boston Red Sox stars when rosters were announced Sunday for the July 15 event at Yankee Stadium.

The Tampa Bay Rays, with the best record in the majors, did not have a single player elected to start.

I really hope no one thought Griffey should be an all-star. He is batting .238 with 11 homeruns. That's no all-star. Who cares that he happened to hit his 600th homerun this year, which I think is great by the way. It would be like next year if Randy Johnson wins number 300 letting him start the game, even if his record is 4-8.
