MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Milwaukee Brewers have traded four prospects to the Cleveland Indians for reigning AL Cy Young Award winner C.C. Sabathia.

The deal bolsters the Brewers' rotation for a playoff push, and signals the Indians have given up contending for a postseason berth.

Sabathia went 19-and-7 with a 3.21 ERA to win the AL Cy Young Award last season and gives the Brewers another power pitcher to pair with Ben Sheets as Milwaukee tries to make the playoffs for the first time since 1982.

Milwaukee sends Cleveland left fielder Matt LaPorta, pitchers Rob Bryson and Zach Jackson and a player to be named.

LaPorta and Bryson are former West Virginia Power players.

LaPorta was playing at Double-A Huntsville and was hitting .288 with 20 homers and 66 RBIs in 84 games.
