HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Former Marshall star and Beckley native
Tamar Slay is getting a second shot at the NBA.
The 28-year-old guard and forward is playing for the Golden
State Warriors summer league team, trying to earn a roster spot.
Slay averaged 7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2 assists in Golden
State's first two games.
Slay played at Marshall from 1998 to 2002 and is the Herd's
all-time leader in three-point goals with 251 and three-point
attempts with 650.
He was a second-round selection of the New Jersey Nets and
played in 66 games in three seasons with the New Jersey and
Charlotte franchises.
Slay spent last season in the Italian League for Pierrel Capo
d'Orlando.
