ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Tampa Bay won a seesaw homerfest in
Game 2 of the American League Championship Series with a 9-8 win in
11 innings over Boston to even the best-of-seven series. B.J. Upton
drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly.

The Rays opened their 11th inning rally with back to back walks
issued by losing pitcher Mike Timlin. They moved up a base on a
groundout. After an intentional walk, Upton flied to short right
field. J.D. Drew's throw was off line and pinch-runner Fernando
Perez with the winning run to end the five-hour, 27-minute
marathon.

The teams combined to hit seven home runs, which is an ALCS
record and ties a major league record for the postseason.

Dustin Pedroia hit two of Boston's four homers. Pedroia, Kevin
Youkilis and Jason Bay hit fifth-inning solo home runs for Boston.
Bay drove in four runs. Pedroia raced home with the tying run in
the eighth inning on a wild pitch.

Evan Longoria, B.J. Upton and Cliff Floyd homered for the Rays.
Longoria had three hits and three RBIs.

Boston starter Josh Beckett was charged with eight runs on nine
hits in 5 and a-third innings, the shortest postseason effort of
his career.

The teams have Sunday as a travel day. The series resumes Monday
at Fenway Park with Matt Garza on the mound for Tampa Bay against
16-game winner Jon Lester for the Red Sox.
