LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Jodie Meeks scored 22 points to lead Kentucky to its first win of the season, a 71-42 victory over Delaware State on Saturday.

Meeks made five-of-eight 3-point attempts. He has been the scoring leader, or shared that honor, for Kentucky (1-2) in each of the Wildcats' three games.

The Wildcats kept the defensive pressure on the Hornets (1-5), forcing 22 turnovers, 13 in the first half. Delaware State made only one-of-nine 3-point attempts.

Trevor Welcher and Arturo Dubois led the Hornets with 10 points each. Frisco Sandidge had eight rebounds for Delaware State.

Delaware State had eight offensive rebounds.

Patrick Patterson tallied 9 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds in Kentucky's first win.

NOW THAT UK HAS THERE BAD GAMES OUT OF THE WAY FOR THE SEASON MAYBE THEY CAN GET ON A WINNING STREAK...COME ON UK DO SOMETHING THIS SEASON....MAKE US UK FANS PROUD OF YOU GUYS....IN 1 OR 2 MORE SEASONS KENTUCKY WILL BE TOP RANKED AND WINNING THE NCAA.COACH GILLISPIE HAS TO WORK WITH WHAT TUBBY LEFT HIM, WHICH WAS NOT WITH MUCH..I SHOULD SAY MAYBE WITH TALENT BUT NOT USED PROPERLY LIKE TUBBY SHOULD OF USED THE PLAYERS.. COACH GILLISPIE AND TUBBY SMITH ARE TWO DIFFERENT STYLE COACHES..I LIKE GILLISPIE'S STYLE BEST..GO WILDCATS...
